I enjoyed the remake every bit as much as the original, maybe even a little more.

The last update was from March this year on Kickstarter.

Quote:
Dear all,

sincere apologies we've been logged out of KS for a couple of months due to an admin error which meant we couldn't access our account, emails or comments - we weren't even getting email updates from KS....

here our the updates from Facebook..

As you are all aware the intention for RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop was for it to be released for the 30th Anniversary in July 2017. As a production team we never imagined how huge this project would become, it truly is the most in-depth documentary on a film franchise and as you know we have now interviewed 100 of the cast and crew of all 3 RoboCop films and the TV series. Right up until this summer we were interviewing additional cast/crew who weren't available at the time of production in 2016.

We were also holding out in the hope that we could persuade Dr Weller to participate and we had a number of very strong leads right up until last week. We are pleased to say that our producer Gary Smart discussed the project personally with Dr Weller last weekend and whereas Dr Weller declined to participate, he did inform us personally of the reasons why. Dr Weller feels that he has talked about RoboCop in-depth over the last 30-years and there is ample archive materials for us to use. He wished us all the best and is looking forward to seeing the final documentary.

We are currently in deep edit on this mammoth project and are looking an approx. June 2018 release - we will of course update you all when we can!

Christopher Griffiths Director
They should have updated about now whether they can deliver or not in June.

EDIT: I better check their facebook page since there's more to see and read

I can understand why Weller refused to join. He wants to break away from the image of RoboCop because thats what everyone only associates him with. I'd imiagen that would be a little annoying after a while.

He has spoken about RoboCop a lot and in great detail over many years anyway..

You think he just wants more money?

Too bad Basil Poledouris passed away years ago. That would have been a great addition to the documentary.

Yep. For someone who revises to join and wants to break away from it all, he really keeps going back to the well on this one.

I don't get the extreme content complaints on the first film. It had some violence but it was telling a story of crime out of control. Maybe some people are too sensitive and if so enjoy the kid version remake. Also, the first film had much more emotion and heart than the remake. The remake felt so typical.

Considering the recent appearances and discussions he participated in, my theory is this was a nice way of saying if you can't pay me properly for participation then just use other footage.

I'm curious to see how they talk and show the scenes that got the movie into trouble with the MPAA - apparently this doc is R-rated so I guess they show some of those scenes (?)

actually in this day and age, violence is much more graphic and the MPAA more lenient. Even TV nowadays is showing graphic gore ('American Horror Story') that if a movie tried to depict would be given an NC-17 right off the bat.

Yeah, now the only way they'll let you get it is if you contribute to their Police Academy documentary and buy a specific perk package. Nothing like using people's interest in one thing to try to make a support something we don't care about

In terms of bloody violence, 80s films like Robocop are super tame compared to what is allowed to make an R rating.

Something like Django Unchained is far more over the top than Robocop.

Completely agree. My wife was watching the Roanoke one and there was a
[Show spoiler]disembowelment
scene that had me wondering how the hell it got on the air. Movies like Braveheart didn't even go that far.

Or you can just buy it from their website when it’s finally done. It'll be available for everyone just like their Fright Night documentary was.

even in the first season 'Murder House'
[Show spoiler]with one victime being hog-tied and then stabbed several times in the back
was ultraviscious and gory as sin, and as the season's progressed so did the violence: 'Freak Show' and 'Hotel' spilling buckets and I mean buckets of stage blood/gore. FX channel has pretty much set the standard of what is allowable on pay cable in terms of graphic violence and uncensored adult language. Clearly they were also pushing the limits of allowable nudity for 'Hotel' as well.

In my mind Rambo (2008) has the most extreme bloodletting I've seen for a mainstream action movie; what Stallone got away without MPAA meddling is insane.

I was going through my Kickstarter e-mails, and knowing I had backed this, I was going insane thinking I hadn't received my copy. I'm relieved to realize/remember it has been delayed for over a year from the originally estimated April 2017 delivery date.
