I am estimating over $200 million . Per Deadline:

Quote:
‘Captain America: Civil War’ To Break Out In The U.S.; Looks To Defeat ‘Ultron’s $191M+ Debut

Summer starts on Thursday night at 7 PM with*DisneyCaptain America: Civil Warset to send seismic waves through the box office. This is a*Marvelsuperhero clash that fanboys and crowds have been waiting for, and unlike Warner Bros.’*Batman V*Superman: Dawn Of Justice,*Disney already has critics and audiences on their side.

The Rotten Tomatoes score off 115 reviews for*Captain America: Civil War*is at 94% fresh, which is higher than both 2012’s*Avengers*(92%) and last May’sAvengers:*Age Of Ultron*(75%). Pair this with the buzz emanating out ofDisney’s hugely successful CinemaCon screening*and industry estimates have*Civil War*conquering No. 1 between*$190M-$200M*at 4,200-plus theaters. *Given how non-exact tracking is in predicting these big openings, should*Civil War‘s dust settle at*$175M, the Mouse House will be very happy.

Among the top three superhero debuts at the domestic box office, Disney/Marvel owns all of ’em with*Avengers*($191.3M, A CinemaScore) and 2013’s*Iron Man 3*($174.1M, A CinemaScore).

So you're not really estimating it, you're just using someone else's estimation.

Eh..no . I voted over $200 million a while back.

Anyways, from bo.com

Civil War” Breaks New Record and Now Ranks as Fandango’s*Top Pre-Selling Superhero Movie of All Time,*Overtaking “Batman v Superman,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “The Avengers”

LOS ANGELES –*May 3, 2016*– Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” is storming to the top of Fandango’s*Fanticipation*movie buzz indicator with a rare perfect score of 100 out of 100 points, representing more than 90% of Fandango’s weekend ticket sales.

“Civil War” has generated record-breaking advance ticket sales, now ranking as Fandango’s #1 pre-selling superhero movie of all time, surpassing “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “The Avengers.”

“With an ‘Avengers’-sized ensemble cast,*stellar advance reviews, the introduction*of a new ‘Spider-Man’ and new characters like ‘Black Panther,” the widespread anticipation forThursday*night’s debut of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ is massive,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “Already hailed as Marvel’s best movie yet, Cap and ‘friends’ can add a new notch in their belts with more advance tickets sold for ‘Civil War’ than for any other superhero movie in Fandango’s 16-year history.”

I'm conservatively guessing $190M, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it has the 2nd biggest opening weekend after TFA

BoxOffice estimates a huge $214 mllion opening weekend. Jungle Book will be a very strong #2 (still with over 4,000) theaters. So Disney rules the box office? Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, original animated content (Zootopia), and their lineup of films based on animation....all of the other studios must be green with envy .

It's already racked up $261M in foreign sales too. Tack on the $200M+ US opening weekend plus whatever else it draws overseas during that time and by Monday next week it'll have $500M+ to its name without breaking a sweat. Question is, can it top the billion dollar mark, becoming the first Cap movie to do so? Sure looks that way, it's not going to drop off a cliff like BvS did.

I think $1 Billion is a lock honestly. BvS was a sure bet before the completely horrible reviews and lukewarm at best audience response.

This one has fantastic reviews and great word of mouth from those who have already seen it.

Iron Man 3 numbers are what I'm expecting.

Disney is destroying it the last 6 months from Star Wars ($2 Billion), Zootopia (Closing in on $1 Billion), Jungle Book ($735M and going) and now Civil War at $550M by Monday probably.

Then of course, there is the Finest Hours with its $52M in between there

Question is, if you were going for the Rhetorical Question of the week, you Won!

Like Diesel noted above, Obviously it's pretty much a Lock at this point for $1B (& prob quite a bit more), based on pretty much TERRIFIC Reviews from all corners so far. I'm guessing $750-800M easy by the Following Monday.

Disney further proving that its only competition is itself.

After tipping BvS several times to make a billion I'm not sure of much any more, hence the question.

BvS had to try to not reach a billion. Even with the lukewarm reception of Man of Steel, the mere presence of Batman coupled with the huge marketing campaign and complete lack of competition for nearly a month(at least domestically) meant that there was only one way it wouldn't make 10 figures worldwide: the movie had to suck(or at least severely underwhelm).

Same with Civil War. The only way it would've struggled to reach a billion was if the movie was complete garbage. It's got almost all of the Avengers including Iron Man who is still the biggest star of the MCU. It has Spider-Man who's the most popular bigscreen superhero outside of Batman. Winter Soldier made nearly 3/4 of a billion on its own and Age of Ultron made twice that and this is basically a followup to both. And like BvS, it has no domestic competition for 3 weeks.

But unlike BvS, nearly everyone who's seen Civil War has at the very least enjoyed it. Many are loving it.

It'll be frontloaded and won't have any legs, and he'll be saying this well into the forth week of it's release.
