I won't judge any Gilliam film by its trailer - fallen into that trap before. It's one thing to cobble together many moments but it's the sustained tone of the thing that matters. In any case, practically every Gilliam film has a split response by critics ('Brazil' is a notable exception), so even reviews are nothing to go on. I expect this to be no better and no worse than anything else he's done - main point is I'd rather see a lousy Gilliam film than any of the other usual fluff at the multiplexes.

Shitty reviews are hardly surprising. The trailer, heck, even a poster looked terrible.

No, I mean it as in...people like Amazon and Netflix of course now often give further opportunities of distribution to 'unusual' or unconventional productions, and/or are willing to fund things certain other major networks/corporations wouldn't... So I'm surprised that yes, even they are dropping this.

[QUOTE=drush9999;15075710]Think it was shot on SD video, so wouldn't get much improvement over DVD.[/QUOTE
Actually it was shot in mini DV, So it would look about as good as 28 days later! I'm actually in the DVD. not the main feature, but one of the Doc's which was a q&A with Gilliam and Elvis Mitchell after the LA screening of the movie at LACMA. such a cool enjoyable evening!! |
