I'm going to buy the heck outta this.

I also love Jack and Bicentennial Man. I really can't think of a Robin Williams flick I didn't like to be honest. He was my favorite, and still his. Him and Matt Damon - which is why I adore Good Will Hunting so much.

Yup. The movie oversimplified his methods to the point where they barely represent his actual accomplishments. That and they take huge liberties when depicting people and events. Ex: Monica Potter's character was actually a man in real life, they just flipped the gender to tack on a love story subplot.

I honestly don't know how there are such large differences in opinion. Your opinion is welcome however.

Yes this movie DOES NOT accurately portray the real life Patch, but it's still a coherent movie with solid acting, characters and emotion.

Note that A Beautiful Mind did not accurately portray John Nash and it's a very well received film.

My Robin Williams blu-ray set would be complete if only some company took the time to re-master 2002's "One Hour Photo", and also just releasing 2002's "Death to Smoochy". I suppose someday, right? Those are the only two Robin Williams films left for me to own on blu-ray. Williams did quite a few bombs that I don't need, but I liked "One Hour Photo" and "Death to Smoochy". Thanks, Universal, for finally releasing "Patch Adams" to blu-ray. The film might be uneven, but Williams' performance was one of his finest.

That's because it was made by a competent filmmaker (Ron Howard), and it didn't get the entire character wrong. According to the REAL Patch Adams, he didn't muck around all the time during school, he did his work, and there wasn't a girl who get murdered. Yes, it was a man who was murdered, but they changed around the character so heavily. It's almost an insult to the man who died.
