With still no hint of an American release of Salem's Lot, I'll only believe these other releases when they actually happen. I hope they do, I'll buy the German release.

Because the international branches of Warner have never, ever released titles prior to Warner US getting off their arses...?

Yup, I can't think of any exceptions (except bootlegs), I hope it happens, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Ah good, so there's hope. If Europe get this & there's no sign of a US release, there's going to be some angry posts on the American thread (esp. with the great price in Europe).

Hopefully they'll issue it in the US with a t-shirt, that will go down well.

All signs point to a release through Warner Archive in the US. It came in second in a poll conducted last fall and they'd be fools not to release it. Most other films from the poll have already come out through WAC.

Super excited for this. My favourite vampire flick.

Probably too early to tell, but will this be region free?

I've seen it advertised as region A and then region free by some sellers, so I'm a bit confused. I thought Warner went region free on their blus, but this appears to be a subsidiary New Line release so not too sure...

(I'm from the UK, no news on a release here it seems).

I've preordered the German disc, but I'm also hoping France do a steel book like they're doing with IT.

I don't want to get anyone unduly excited, but the Japanese release specs mention a second unspecified English audio track, and Japanese audio commentary subtitles on the Blu-ray, so there might be an audio commentary newly recorded for this release:

https://warnerbros.co.jp/home_entert...?title_id=2065

But these specs have been wrong before, so take with the requisite grain of salt.

So. It's released on Sept 20th in the USA. Complete with a commentary from Tobe Hooper.

Now that the US version has been announced I'm gonna pick up that version instead.

Hi all. Not Salems Lot, but does anyone know if the directors cut of Exorcist III - which is being released in the US by Shout Factory - will get a region B release any time?

I've been wondering the same thing. I expect it will at some point - an independent label in Germany or the UK I think is our best hope for a region B release.

On another subject is Germany getting a release of Cats Eye along with Salem's Lot ?
I can't find a listing for it.

It's annoying that in the UK we are only getting IT - no Salem's Lot or Cats Eye for us

Approx. 2-4 minutes of the movie are without german dub and presented in english with (optional) german subtitles (subtitle track 14). (mostly the scene with Cully Sawyer confronting his unfaithful wife and her lover - that scene is almost entirely in english - apart from some sentences here and there in german).

Other scenes mostly only involve single sentences that are not dubbed... (Danny Glick vampire at the window etc...)

And I might be wrong, but one of those (brief) parts is unnecessary. When Jason Burke is confronted by Mike Ryerson as a vampire the german dub is - as I see it - only played too early. The vampire starts hissing and talking while he is still sitting motionless and with downcast head in his chair. Therefore you only hear the same thing in english afterwards (this time in sync with the picture). If I am not wrong and this part of the german dub would've been adjusted correctly to the moving image there would have been no need for the original dialogue. If you watch the scene with the original audio it is perfectly in sync with the image.

Otherwise I'm very pleased with the release (picturewise etc...) - and I personally prefer the original audio - so no big deal for me.
