Surprised that since this is your most anticipated release, you hadn't already puchased the Region Free UK or Australian bluray!

Not everyone feels like going region free...and sometimes people want to wait to see what a domestic company will do with a release of said movie...and if the domestic company fails, might as well import the non-domestic release.

Aren't there sites you can commission a custom made one?

Many times for me the Domestic Company fails miserably. Is why I've been multi-region for so long.
Or both Domestic and another I want are both equally great and have wildly varying extras, I don't mind one bit owning both.

What do you mean?
Those blurays ARE Region Free, so anyone could purchase them, even in USA with a Region locked player.

I understand the 2nd part of your post though.
i do the same with some films, waiting what someone else would do (for me EVERYTHING is an import and I don't have a problem with Regions).
I just thought since it seems he loved this film so much, he wouldn't wait so many years for a domestic release. (the Australian bluray was released 7 years ago)

One of my favorite movies. Hoping there will be some really good extras, including new stuff with Vince DiCola.

A new master sounds interesting, although as stated, the UK disc looks really good. It's really dirty though, with scratches and tears here and there, so there's room for improvement so long as Shout doesn't go crazy with the DVNR and scratch repair.

I'd also love to see a 4:3 version in HD, or at the very least a bonus 1.66 presentation that shows just a bit more top and bottom. I know the fully open matte version shows some unfinished animation, so I think 1.66 would be a nice compromise in addition to the theatrical 1.85 presentation (something I also hope for Batman: Mask of the Phantasm should it ever come to Blu-ray).

Also, if any single movie deserves a music-only audio track, it's this one. It would even be cool to hear the song "Attack on the Shuttle" (retitled "Space Attack" for the remastered soundtrack release) reinserted for an alternate viewing.

How about a Unicron tin case? Like the Jurassic park ones? Or even a matrix of leadership one?

Awesome news! I can't believe that its been 30 years. Man do I feel old. I remember seeing it in the theater as a kid when it came out. Hopefully they will use the original poster art for the slipcover.

I've probably seen this more than any film, ever. It's part of me, it always will be and I will defend it to my last dying breath.

I've owned the UK disc and sold it when the Australian disc came out. They both have the same MPEG-2 transfer and audio issue, (Prime's rifle drops out in one scene). That said, I think the underlying source for those discs looks pretty damn good and I would be happy enough with that re-encoded in AVC and a proper 2.0 audio mix. Some of the faux 5.1 mixes that this film has seen over the years, are shocking.

I heard all the stereo mixes on DVD and BD are sourced from a 5.1 remix with new sound effects where they then tried to take out the sound effects, resulting in dropouts, lol. Here's hoping for a true theatrical mix.

I was lazy about it, more than anything and I technically still had the DVD of the 20th Anniversary.
