Knowing Sony, the date is probably wrong, but maybe it will happen this year.

Here's hoping for a 4K remaster, though.

Stand By Me is one of my all-time favorite movies.

The existing Blu-ray, which is a 25th Anniversary release, is quite beautiful in terms of picture quality and it serves the purpose with regard to audio quality, so I'm not expecting anything different. I'll gladly double-dip if there is a 4K remaster, though.

The current Blu-ray is already derived from a recent 4K remaster, and it looks gorgeous. One of the best Blu-rays of an 80's film out there.

Can anyone confirm that the current release is sourced from a 4K scan? I can't find anything about it. Also, I just read a press release from the '11 and there isn't any mention of the 4K restoration.

But, yeah, if the current release is indeed sourced from a 4K scan, then it's suffice to say that this will be just a lazy re-issue. Maybe with a couple of new extras.

I was about t ask. Was going to say easily one of the better catalog masters ive seen even given when it was initially released.

Were there any deleted scenes on this? There really is no reason for a re-release.

Yeah, I saw that. But I was pointing out that the source is the BB and that Sony is prone to delaying titles (Little Women, Crouching Tiger etc.).

This is my all time favourite movie and my wife and kids know this. ..
Because I'm a man who has everything, I'm hard to buy for , so I have multiple copies of this in various formats.

I'm sure this new edition will be mine at my next father's day, birthday, anniversary. .lol..

I just keep my movie soundtracks in their own series of media towers...I would never want to separate them from the original packaging and liner notes.

I do stick DVD copies of movies in with the Blus if the DVDs have exclusive extras. Saves a lot of shelf space.
