I'm from Holland and had imported the player from Germany couple of months ago.
Still don't get it why some people think the physical appearance of the player puts them off. It has been mentioned in some reviews I read also. Sure it's not ultra thin like some modern players these days (does it need to be?), but I like the way it looks. It's looks mighty impressive I would say. ![]() |

I also like the way the Panasonic Player looks. Now if only the price was lower.

I am so embarrassed to admit this, but we were so busy today receiving in and shipping out our 1st allocation of Panasonic UB900 4K BD players that we did not even unpack our Sony Z9D. ):
Tomorrow we'll wall mount and report on our Z9D! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks Ray!
BTW, a few of our clients told me the DMP-UB900 does not have the Amazon Video app and of course, it does. Not sure how misinformation is rumored. Here's a screen shot of one of the UB900s Smart App Screen I took home. ![]() Users can also go to Panasonic's app store to select from a large volume of apps that can be added to their UB900 Smart menu. I suggest for all who want to learn about this player to stop by Blu-ray.com and to ask all of your questions. |

So that's why we had a very limited stock of UB900's in Europe!
![]() Looking forward to the ZD9 impressions, is it the 65" or 75"? |

Regarding SACD and DVD-A most folks who have these discs also have a player so why not keep the SACD/DVD-A player and get the UB900 for everything else. With this scenario the user would enjoy the best of everything possible. |

A lot of debate has been going on on a UK forum concerning the forced 12 Bit output of this player (as opposed to native 10 Bit which it does not do), with some people experiencing banding on certain non-Panasonic TVs when watching UHD movies using the UB900. Fortunately I personally haven't noticed any on my Sony 75X940D when using the UB900.
Other complaints are the lack of HDR when using the Netflix and Amazon Video apps (in the player), the lack of USB/network playback of HEVC mp4/mkv files and problems with correct 24p output (meaning some content will be played at 60p) when streaming content from the video apps and when playing content from USB or over network. It's my understanding Panasonic is looking into these matters, as lots of UK owners have contacted them about this. Again this is all based on what I have read on a UK forum. I can confirm the lack of 10 Bit output though. Haven't looked into the other issues as I do not do streaming and I haven't tried playing (UHD) content from USB or over network. I wonder if these issues have been fixed at the US launch, maybe a firmware update could solve this? Other than that I can say this player delivers outstanding picture quality with both UHD discs and regular Blu-rays. Last edited by DJR662; 08-25-2016 at 12:29 AM. |

Thanks for the very good post.
We do have an firmware update to do when you first power on and set-up the network on the UB900 USA edition. It goes from 1.17 to 1.19. I've played the following UHD BD discs; Pan, Kingsman, Salt, and Revenant with no banding and stunning video and audio performance. We have 3 UB900s in our store showroom. Sony's Z9D, LG B6 and Samsung's 78" KS9800. Their are a lot of very detailed settings to attend to with the UB900 to get your specific system configured properly. The player does up convert UHD BD 10bit to 12bit, but I have not seen any undesirable anomalies. I am working with Panasonic on some items to enhance the players, but all are minor and I optimistic they can accomplish my requests with firmware updates. I also have 2 UB900s at home one on our 65" B6 and another on our G6. With a properly set-up 4K HDR TV the cinematic experience is by far the best i have ever experienced. |
