the point i was getting at was that my projector is an optoma dv10 which i think does 720 natively.
i hook up my ps3 using component cables to the projector and it says its outputting 1080p, but i dont know if its the ps3 being fooled or something. if anyone knows, id really be interested in finding out. besides that, it looks phenomenal. |

The problem with DirecTV isn't the compression method. The problem with DirecTV is that it's not true HD. They use what many people refer to as HD-Lite since it's displaying 1280x1080i rather than a full HD image of 1920x1080p.
BTW, DirecTV still uses MPEG-2 as well as H.264/MPEG-4 for HD broadcast. |
