I'll skim it later this afternoon after I finish up an episode or two of Luke Cage. I'll post my thoughts afterwards.

Not sure the VFX will look good in 4K. I think they were pretty obvious on the Blu-ray.

Watched a bit of it. Not a video expert, but so far so good. Compared to the other 4K discs I've watched, this one isn't a top-tier disc, but a solid looking one nonetheless, especially if it is in fact a 2K upscale. Lots of soft-looking shots, though I imagine that's just the intended look of the film given its 60's setting. Detail is solid, but the previous poster is correct in that the VFX don't look great, a lot of the green screen use is obvious. Was a little disappointed that it only contained the same 5.1 DTS-HD MA track that was on the previous disc. Still happy with the purchase though, but I would recommend waiting until its on sale or at a cheaper price. I would probably give a video score of 3.5 or 4/5.

Also, just to clarify, my TV is not HDR-compatible, so I can't say if that end of the disc is any good or not. I also didn't take any time to compare between the old 1080p Blu-ray and this disc, so I'm not sure just how big of an upgrade it is.

Thanks for your opinion. This is why I'm waiting to see reviews/impressions before upgrading to this disc. Maybe if it goes on sale again on Black Friday or Fox has a sale I'll go for it.

Is this how some 2K movies will be treated as a 4K release from now on? An upscale? I'm worried about how the VFX would look on this considering they were made / rendered for 2K display. This is also another reason why I'm afraid to upgrade to 4K as all my favourite movies will now look a tad bit worse, which bothers me a lot.

You do know blu-ray is still limited somewhat compared to the theatrical master - slightly less resolution, less color, compression. A "mere upscale" should still have higher quality.

Just watched a few scenes. There is a distinct difference in contrast. The BD looks hot compared to the UHD. Some might prefer the BD just for that. It's mostly evident in daytime scenes. The contrast difference reminds me of Mad Max BD vs. UHD.

I watched it Saturday evening. It is not something you will watch and say "wow". Don't get me wrong, I thought it looked quite good. Overall there is an improvement over the Blu-ray in PQ. But most of the improvement is sharpness and clarity and not color or hue. I bought it because I am a X-Men series completist.

Good.

Hopefully video companies will stop wasting resources on useless redundant packaging.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and Ice Age: Collision Course do. Either they are going without on catalog titles or they produced these long ago and have been sitting on them waiting for Apocalypse to come out.

Fox dropped the ball on this one; went in to pick up Apocalypse today and it was missing the First Class 4K with the online system saying it's not available within 250 miles of Washington DC. How'd everybody else get theirs?

Honestly, I was going to pick up the stuff in store, but with the Fox Connect deal running through October 9th, I'd be an idiot (financially) to buy in store...

Deal is listed in the deals forum, but simply put: 2 for 22.99 each; 3 for 19.99 each; 4 or more for 17.99 each.

I picked up / pre-ordered all of Fox's titles for the next two weeks.

It a hell of a deal, especially if you are just starting out buying Fox stuff.
