Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer coming to Blu-ray from Discotek

I'll never forget that story where Robert was finalizing a deal to license all of Urusei Yatsura except for Beautiful Dreamer, thinking he'd just run across town and work out a deal with the other licensor to complete the set, while at the same time John O'Donnell from CPM was finalizing the license to Beautiful Dreamer and planned on doing the exact same thing, lol.

Good to know this is still coming. I never really got into the series that much but I love the 2nd and 5th movies.

I need all of the series on bluray. Love this show. Just a shame Kimagure Orange Road wont ever be on bluray since the idiots that own it refuse to spend money.

I'd recommend watching it before getting this otherwise it will be a little strange. At worst you can stream subtited dvd rips of it on the net to see what you think. I dont believe its fair to pay almost $50 for 4 episodes of soething thats out of print anyway. Theres quite a few characters that get introduced throughout that appear in the movies and instead of being happy to see them and entertained you'd just see them as this or that strange random person whos acting weird. You'd probably come away from it wondering what the hell you just bought.

Discotek made a hint at something yatsura a while back. Many thinking/hoping it's the series, who knows could be nothing. Even if they did get it, it would probably be a while for it to actually get released

I wouldn't mind a Blu Ray upgrade for the series...considering how much room the darn Animeigo DVD releases take up. Personally I am hoping at least Only You (1) and The Final Chapter (5) movies get the Blu Ray treatment sooner or later. Also if viz or Discotek could find a way to release those special one off UY and Ranma episodes from a couple of years back.

If we parse that quote then it clearly means that they'll be doing it later on (not right now)......

Being serious though, UY is such a wonderful series. Hope someone takes a punt on it at some point. The JP discs are such a pain to try and get a hold of now, and even then there's work to do to make them English-friendly.

Maybe my favorite anime series (though I still haven't finished watching the DVDs!). Back in the day I pre-ordered the insane Animeigo 10-disc LD set of the first 40 episodes (pretty sure it was $300) hoping that they would continue the run, but alas... then had the 6 movie LDs (2nd was US Manga Corps IIRC). Watched all of that content five or six times over before they got around to the DVDs, which I have sitting here, but never found the time as an adult to completely sit through the other 160eps and the OVAs. The version of UY on Amazon prime in Japan is about the same level of blurriness, so I am guessing the original NTSC masters. I am not holding out hope of Animeigo releasing the HD remasters, but it really is a shame. All that work done on the subtitles/liner notes, but now everything has to be a money-upfront kickstarter it seems...

I'm really wanting to see what the pq on this disc looks like-I'm not expecting miracles but hopefully it'll look as good as the Ranma 1/2 bluray sets did.

How would you know they are refusing to release KOR on blu-ray? KOR HD netflix rips can be found on anime torrent sites.

Show me some proof on where they are refusing. Your word isn't enough.
