Well if they're not westerns, yes. I thought we were voting for westerns, not films that reminded you of a western. Oh dear.

I just now realized that only two people voted for the film, so it's a non-issue. Clearly most members here agree that it is not a western, or at the very least not one of of the top western films of all time.

Wait till the "not western" titles show up that enter the top 20 or higher ...

It has been discussed in the voting-topic. Subgenres count, they were included. The damage is done.

If you have Turner Classic Movies, they'll be showing it as part of their Gene Wilder tribute night on Thursday, September 29. I remember loving it as a kid but haven't seen it for many years now, so I plan to catch it that night.

Thanks for the tip, but we don't have these channels overhere. Unfortunatly. Have fun watching it. For me it's hard to imagine Ford and Wilder on screen together, so I'm really curious.

Why do people wait to complain about which movies are included on these lists AFTER the voting?

Because it's easier and nicer to complain at a consensus result rather than at individual people.

Love The Professionals. I ranked it pretty high and would have loved to see it crack the top 20.

I bet it would have ranked higher if not for all the other eastwood westerns.

This is our first of 8 in the countdown featuring eastwood.

Young Guns 2 ranks ahead of Hannie Caulder, Hang Em High, and The Professionals....

I wonder what other surprises we have ahead....

Least I did my bit to get Keoma somewhere on the list.

Please check it out! It's one of the great non-Leone spaghetti westerns. Very dreamy and surrealistic, basically right at the edge of what the genre was capable of doing. Also made towards right at the end of the trend in the late 70s so it's kind of detached from the usual template.

And no, I don't think it's right Kill Bill was allowed to be nominated. Yes it's influenced by spaghetti westerns somewhat and takes a lot of the musical cues, but it's clearly a martial arts movie and it's set in the east. It also probably borrows moreso from exploitation and De Palma than from westerns.

?? How do I know what's on the final list until after I & all the others have voted? Nice to see The Professionals & Ride Lonesome, two great westerns.

No more moaning, but after it's all been published, I'll post a list of great/good westerns that aren't on the full list.
