Is it just me or does the allegedly 4K transfer of this movie had quite a bit of DNR applied to it?

I mean...people complained about the DNR on the blu-ray of An American Werewolf in London, but whatever DNR it had applied to it, wasn't as drastic as the DNR on Body Melt.

There are a few shots where the movie looks great, but for the most part, it appeared to have that infamous DNR look to my eyes.
I definitely think it had noise reduction of some kind. I didn't think it was too bad, but the close up of someone getting something out of a mailbox, has an error in which most of the hand disappears for a few frames, which is usually a sign of noise reduction/ automatic dirt removal

If you like Street Trash, you'll enjoy Body Melt.

I guess they paid more to get to the original negative.. ? The local release was from an interpositive according to this thread.. might have to double dip once the review hits.

Had to do a very quick comparison shot for someone on the front page (88 Films release), to prove the difference between the Umbrella and Vinegar Syndrome release.. thought I might as well post it here too.

http://www.screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/125641

I don't think it's worth doing any more. Difference is night and day. Maybe I should have kicked up a fuss about this rather than The Blob and they might have atleast re-issued with less compression.

Also, a guy who works for VS said Umbrella used an Internegative, not an Interpositive.

Wow, that is some difference. I was happy enough with my Umbrella release until now.

After seeing the comparison above, I'd be furious if I bought the local version. It looks awful.

Thought I might as well do a couple more.. plus I got the frame right for the first one I did.

For some buggy reason I couldn't do all four in one;

Yep. It's a pretty horrible comparison. Honestly, I'm done with buying Umbrella releases. They compress the hell out of their discs, they never seem to do any quality checks. If they get a World exclusive, so be it, i'd rather pin my hopes on another distributor getting it in the future.

Same. I've been waiting for a replacement disc for HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES for a couple of years as well as being fed up with waiting months for a response about discs that lock up in my Sony region modded player. And as you say, there's the compression issues. I'd much rather wait for a movie I want to be released by another international label than buy from them again.
