Who knows how long the Collection will be? Plus can be sold if and when it’s included in a boxset

Wonder if they've fixed the banding issues on a couple of shots? Only a small complaint but I hope they have.

Tempted to get this but £15+ to essentially add a couple of tangentially related archive TV shows, a "documentary" which I still own on VHS that is essentially three orphan Dalek episodes linked by Peter Davison and a few one watch snippets to the collection is a hard sell as I already have the 2017 edition. If I didn't already own that however I'd be all over this.

The bonus material will presumably be on an additional DVD as the archive stuff will be SD (even if it's survived on film I'd be surprised if Whicker's World gets HD treatment)

I may pick this up as I only have the standard DVD edition.
So it's worth upgrading for the colour version and all the extra stuff I guess.

I doubt this will be in a season 4 collection anytime soon. That would mean yet another release (third time) of this title on Blu-ray. I know the BBC take the piss sometimes but season four is mostly all missing, that's why they are doing these stories as standalone animated releases and they still have The Smugglers and The Highlanders to do yet.

Doubt they'll go anywhere near the first few Doctors with the 'collection' releases for a while. The most obvious candidates would likely be seasons 1 or 2;

2 only has 2 episodes of The Crusade missing, but dependent on whether Julian Glover got confused or spoke when he shouldn't have then Indiana Morris may have those.

1 is missing all of Marco Polo and a couple of episodes from Reign, but Marco is one of the most often rumoured finds that Morris supposedly has.

Doubt they'll put a massive amount of effort into reproducing those if there's a 'decent' chance that the actual episodes might turn up at some point.

Of course it's been nearly 7 years since Morris returned ANY DW, so then there's the question of just how long they wait I guess.

I think I'll wait on this SE - I have the steel and can wait for the 'collection'.

Indiana Morris is a national treasure. The man belongs in a museum.

Hang on. Is that the interview with Terry Nation? What nudity?

Unfortunately both are of the opinion that getting those back into public ownership will be a long-game.
Did they say which ones apart from Web of Fear obviously?

I could retell my interaction on Facebook a couple of years ago about missing DW episodes but I've already told the same account twice already and I'd just be repeating the same teasing story.

The Nation interview is just part of that episode. From memory, there’s supposedly a bit in a newsagents where there’s some top shelf material clearly visible in the background.

No. Phil says he knows for a fact that “at least” 6 episodes exist in the hands of private collectors. At the same time he said he’s fairly confident that there are more in Australia, again with private collectors. He said he wouldn’t name names, episodes or Collectors.

Although he’s always been very positive re Web3 it’s unclear whether he includes that in his 6.

Also unclear whether the 2 that Vanezis has previously said he knows exist is included in Phil’s 6. Vanezis has also previously said that he knows of 2 more that are “unreachable” (Iran?).

Hopefully one day we’ll find out.....!

Maybe Savages 1 and Smugglers 4 are two of those eps.?
I think you told me previously that Mark Gatiss had tweeted something mysterious along the lines of asking whoever has those two to give them back.

And also in that Charles Norton interview (which i'm sure everyone here has heard) he says that The Highlanders is unlikely to be animated due to it's "complexity".
Basically it's looking like the rule is - if you're a historical and are looking to be animated, join the back of the queue marked Sometime Never.

This screenshot has been posted on Gallifrey Base, but I can't find the actual source of it:

[Show spoiler]

(Assuming the quote's genuine,) the animation has been "extensively revised" and in places re-animated, to the point where every shot has been re-composited and the first fifteen minutes look entirely different to the 2016 release. The colour version won't be included as no one from the original animation team was involved.

The reconstruction is also a new one made by Derek Handley (the person behind the Marca Terror and Faceless Ones recons) and Whicker's World is from a new HD scan.

The quotes btw are from Charles Norton on Roobarb's. Take them as 100% legit.

I take back all my cynicism and presumption of BBC cheapskatery (is that a real word?). If they have indeed reanimated the main feature I'll be picking this up. With the above specs what seemed like a bit of a cashgrab before it comes out again as part of the season 4 boxed set actually now seems quite appealing.

Wonder if the three orphan episodes that make up the bulk of The Dalek Years will be new masters or, like those included on the Faceless Ones, simply the Lost In Time transfers?

Apparently the full episodes will be cut out.

They've aired on TV in the US, which is better then the UK (wait, scratch that, I would not trade my BD releases for a TV broadcast). According to the animation crew on social media, the colour version was made specifically for BBC America, which is apparently why it was released a few weeks late.

Power of the Daleks has, but only on DVD. Surprised the others haven't been released physically. Plus I thought the only reason the colour versions exist is because the USA co-financier demanded them.

Very excited to finally watch this. Seems the BBC is really going all in on Who lately with many animation reconstructions and the boxsets!

If the updated animation is as substantive as that quote would imply, I may have to make the rare double-dip.

Pre-ordered this morning. I like the new artwork, and am keen to see the updated animation.

Pre-ordered as well! The extras are certainly nice, but the fact that the animation has been revisited so substantially makes it a must-buy for me.

Unfortunately, with the current state of the world, I can't get this shipped to the United States. Doesn't bug me too much for this release but when they announce a new Collection release, I'm going to go nuts!

In case you haven't already seen this, you can still order from Zavvi for delivery to the US! Unfortunately, their shipping is more expensive than Amazon's, but they're a good option if you really want to get it when it releases.
