If this film didn't have enough issues. Mill Creek put a MPEG-2 encode on a 2017 Blu Ray Release. The only partial redeeming factor of the movie, and reason for buying it, the soundtrack, isn't in lossless audio. Presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 512Kbps.... Someone send this to Mariah with a full clip of her New's Years Eve performance, escuse, debacle. {Dahling}

I really try to give Mill Creek the benefit of the doubt but wow, an Mpeg 2 encode in addition lossy audio is a new one for them as far as I know.

Me. I ordered I yesterday, so "Day 1." And it was $6.99 on Amazon. (Though now it's $5.39.)

I'm not a big tech-y guy so... I don't really know what this means.

I already ordered this though. Is it worth keeping or should I return it & just stick with the DVD?

It's a bad movie sure, but the MC completist in me still wants it.

I'd rather spend money on Glitter than on BvS or any of the Fast & Furious or Hunger Games movies...

It's not the greatest presentation but it's certainly better than the DVD version.

It's one of my favorite bad movies.

Unfortunately I think it might be out of print but maybe you can track it down somewhere.

MPEG-2 is basically a single layer disc instead of dual layer, AKA a BD-25 instead of BD-50. With only one layer, there is not as much space for extra content, this type of disc was discontinued after blu-ray took off as a format especially when discs required more space for extra features. With this disc it might suffer compression issues though they are probably not going to be that bad since the disc is barebones anyway.

If you're a fan, for whatever reason, I say keep it. Despite the dated encode it probably won't hurt as mill creek rarely ports over supplements so no worries for compression issues due to squeezing all that content onto one layer of information. Mill Creek would probably deliver a competent transfer that would certainly look better than the DVD, though if you care about the missing commentary and music videos I would suggest you keep the DVD even though you're not really losing much in terms of special features.

This is completely incorrect: MPEG-2 is a video compression codec. It has nothing to do with the disc being used. There are BD-50s with the film compressed in MPEG-2. These also have extras: Click is a BD-50 with the feature encoded in MPEG-2 and has extra features.

Elitest believe MPEG-2 is an outdated codec incapable of excellent video quality but again, there are releases that are well done.
