What's with all the holier than thou, nonsense?
Why you keep saying "shaming" anyway? LOL. I am against gun violence and elder abuse. You say "shaming" and I throw in a "elder abuse" and everybody else says stop. LOL. |

I watched revenge of the sith in theaters more than ten years ago. That had to be one of the most loud audience experiences at the theater. I was on the outer seat of the row, and some guys kept walking out interrupting scenes like grievous vs obi wan , and palpatine vs mace windu. All I could do was give them nasty looks. The worst thing though: When Palpatine converted anakin into a sith, just when he said: "you will be known as Darth..." some random kid said out loud"Vader!!!" completely ruining the experience.

Didn't happen to me, but someone told another to STOP TAKING PICTURES WITH THE FLASH ON. I was happy the person did that because it pisses me off so much. During The Jungle Book, some morons did the same. I wanted to shout at them, but I don't want to get involved in nonsense they may spew out. Who. Would. Do. That.

But, sitting in a seat next to, or in front of, someone in a PUBLIC VENUE is NOT an invasion of personal space... unless you breach OVER the arm rest that is separating the two of you.
TO PEOPLE IN GENERAL, NOT NECESSARILY THE PERSON I QUOTED ABOVE: If people have a problem with being sat next to, they shouldn't go to public venues with seating... or they should purchase 3 tickets at assigned seating venues in order to leave the seats on either side of them empty. Other people are paying premium prices to be in that theatre as well. They have EVERY DAMN RIGHT to sit as close to the sweet spot of the venue as you do. If you don't like it, even if it's an empty theatre, YOU should move to a spot where YOU are more comfortable. Or, just sit in the non-popular areas (back row, front 4 or 5 rows, extreme outer edge seats) from the time you walk into the theatre. The entitlement of wanting to have several barrier seats to yourself is beyond ridiculous. |

This happens every other time when my wife and I go to the theaters. Do you really think theater operators have night vision enabled cameras watching the audience?
Teenagers or college kids in groups are the worse. They will come in late and talk loudly up until the movie starts... so talking during the trailers..argh.. One time when my wife and I went to see Sully this couple two rows behind us kept on goofing off and talking and making out. They look to be in their 30's (so same as us). After awhile they just wouldn't shut up so I went to report it to management and management didn't do shit. During the crash landing scene when the FA's where saying "BRACE BRACE BRACE..." the dude reached by breaking point when he started laughing and repeating what they said so I quickly turned around and mouthed him "TONE IT DOWN!!" and waved my hand up and down. He got the message and shut up for the rest of the movie. Back during DOFP this one asian woman kept on checking her phone every 7 mins and damn her brightness level was high I could see it from the top row. Went to an employee and reported it. Mins later the employee walks in and talks to her seconds after she put down her phone. She stopped for the rest of the movie. Just because someone has the right to carry, doesn't mean they have the right to intimidate or use it because they are the one's being the *******s. People have actually lost their license and gone to jail for that. Bigger theaters offer the chance to move away from these ass clowns, however with the whole reserved seating becoming more wide spread, once you buy your seat, you are stuck. My favorite theater, Regal Gainesville just went reserved seating on their RPX screen a few weeks ago. Because of that I may just end up going to the Digital IMAX theater instead to see Rogue One. |

^Agree with that to an extent. I would always leave a space between my self and another person. But thinking because you got there a few minutes before me you can claim space on all sidesi is beyond arrogant. People want to see the movie from the best viewing angle -- they're not trying to crowd you or invade your space.
Saw a movie a while back and this couple and their kid were sitting in the best area. The husband left a gap between himself and the kid and the lady plunks her purse on the seat next to her. I sat in the seat next to the purse and the b**** threw me the dirtiest look she could muster. I'm thinking -- "You paid for 3 tickets and you leave a space in your group and your purse gets a seat of its own AND you expect no one to sit next to your purse? So basically you want 6 seats for the price of three?" People are a mess in this world. |

Best time to go to a movie is earlier when fewer people attend. But otherwise, if you're stuck in a crowded theater and someone is clearly doing something distracting over and over, you have the right to kindly give them a warning to stop before they get kicked out. There's a fine line to walk though, as they could retaliate if you approach it wrong or if they're looking for trouble.
Thankfully I didn't have that happen when some high school kid was rocking in his chair in the front and it was squeaking for 5 minutes straight, "squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak," while trying to watch and hear the movie in a crowded theater. The first few seconds were distracting enough, but at 5 minutes, when I gave him the chance to stop, I finally lost my patience and calmly but assertively got up, went down there and said, "Hi, please stop rocking your chair, I can hear it from back there." He said sorry and stopped to my relief. Then he went up into the theater to sit with his friends in the back. ![]() |

If I go to the theater it is early (9am ish) and in the middle of the week.
I totally get the not wanting to be right next to to a person in an empty theater. Crowded weekends though you don't have much choice. I do find sneezing, coughing and picking your nose (albeit immature) usually wards off a would be person sitting next to you. |

I'm too cowardly to confront anyone about their behavior.
I prefer the seething, silent rage method, where nothing gets resolved and I'm forced to swallow my pride like an impotent loser. ...very effective for passive aggressive types. |

People keep sitting in my reserved seat. It's like they don't understand the concept.
I can almost guarantee this will happen for Rogue One. |

Here's a new one...noisy eaters. Just last night at Fantastic Beasts this guy behind me kept opening/closing his fountain soda and eating each piece of ice individually. I never thought I could be annoyed by theater food, but it happened haha.
But regarding cellphones, I constantly have to ask people to turn off theirs. It's like they don't even think it's rude. I've literally seen guys/girls repeatedly turn on their phone to check messages during the show. I always lean forward and ask them to turn it off and they usually comply without issue. Teenage girls (especially in groups) are a different story. THE WORST THEATER EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD was at Krampus. This group of teenage girls were loud and yelling the whole time. I literally had to ask them to stop 3 times. Eventually my son couldn't take it anymore so he yelled "STOOOOP TAAAALKING" and the theater went completely silent. It was awkward haha. |
