I thought the CGI of Tarkin was incredible! We SW fans knew it was CGI, but non-hardcore fans didn't, at least my significant other had no clue until I told her, then she was like, "really, wow, he looks real!". Princess Leia was ok, wasn't perfect, just didn't like her smiling as it's not in her character (except for the end of ANH when she presents medals to the heroes). I think I saw the Star Wars Rebels Ghost ship flying with the fleet, and kept looking for Hera Syndulla on Yavin IV, but with the heavy sensory overload, may have missed her. At any rate, this movie ranks at the top of the pack, tied for 1st with SW and ESB. It was THAT good, IMO.

A solid 3 star effort, but if it wasn't a Star Wars movie, I'm not sure people would be lining up to see this by the thousands.

I did like the overall feel of it being like a WWII espionage movie, but it did feel a little too long in spots.

Not enough Vader action at the end.

Tarkin was not very convincing CGI, the face and dialogue never synced well enough for me to buy that he was anything more than a glorified videogame character.

K2-SO is awesome.

Forest Whitaker barely factors into the plot and is probably the weakest link of the living actors

Donnie Yen is sadly underused, but one of the bright spots in the movie.

Wen Jiang is great as well.

The only thing that confused me, however, is the location of C-3PO and R2-D2.

Don't know if this has been covered but I remember a scene in the trailer with Jyn walking along the platform and a Tie Figher rising up in front of her. Don't remember seeing this or did I miss it?

Nope, your observation is correct. Apparently a lot (many are saying over half) of the footage seen in the trailers didn't make it into the film, Jyn vs. TIE fighter included.

I thought Darth Vader's role was perfect. This wasn't about him, but to include that bit was awesome.

I thought the CG was amazing. Had a number of people not even realize it and I had to tell them that the actor who played Tarkin had been dead and that was CG. Leia was pretty good CG not great. And KS was perfect CG.

Characters themselves were all under developed, but it wasn't like it was over along period or anything and they all ended up dying anyway. Was a great war movie with plenty of great Star Wars references.

Last 10 minutes with Vader was one of my most favorite Star Wars moments. I have never smiled that much in a movie before.

In this one 2 troopers walk by camera and talk about the VT-15 going out of production or something. Cant remember the exact words but remember noticing it. There is also a similar dialog between 2 troopers at starkiller base in TFA when Rey climbs down a shaft after escaping if I remember correctly.

Man...the Rogue One soundtrack doesn't even have the end credits on it?? Is this the first Star Wars soundtrack without the theme?!?!

Just got back from seeing it. Loved it. Slowish start but that actually benefited the pace towards the end.

CG (-assisted) Tarkin and Leia were interesting... I thought certain Tarkin shots looked fantastic, but some not so much. Leia was a bit too weird on first viewing. But I can buy it, it's Star Wars, where Jabba didn't quite look like Jabba, Yoda didn't quite look like Yoda and Tarkin and Leia have already appeared looking more cartoony in the canon animated series anyway. Also it's something they should be able to easily improve in the future if they want to tweak them to be even more realistic.

Loved all the sneaky (and some not-so-sneaky!) re-use of stuff from other films, obviously ANH mostly, like the rebel pilots.

I wasn't too sure how Vader looked in the choking scene. Something seemed off with his shoulders, a bit too bulked up, but I'm being picky. 'The' final Vader scene was awesome, and he looked awesome. Couldn't help thinking 'there you go prequel haters, that's what you wanted three whole films of right there, hope you're happy now!' (I jest! A bit).

Visually I thought it was stunning. The rebel fleet over Scarif was so beautiful.

Krennic was excellent. Anyone who's not sure about him, read Catalyst, seriously. I felt all of the backstory from that up right there on the screen, and it gave his conniving, and Galen (also excellent) and Lyra's stories so much more depth and pathos than they had time for in the film.

Cataylst also helps explain why Tarkin was so apparently happy to blast Scarrif at the end, as well as trying to destroy the plans, it was the moment he'd been waiting for to deal with Krennic (that's there in the film too I think, but again Catalyst filled in more foreshadowing on that Imperial internal power struggle stuff).

I liked the music but it wasn't Williams. But this was the one (heheh) to use a different composer on, keep Williams working on Episode VIII and IX please. I thought Giacchino did fine, weaving Williams' music into new shapes, much like a lot of other elements the film.

I'm sure I missed loads the first time round, but as a visceral reaction I thought it was great and can't wait to see it again.

Just had my second viewing. Separate from all the fantastic scenes that riveted me throughout, I just noticed that the hammerhead corvette goes down with the two star destroyers, so that crew gave the ultimate sacrifice to get that shield down. So many good moments. And yes, I saw the Ghost ship sitting at Yavin IV outside and on the left side of the screen. Can't wait to get this on blu ray to pause these super 'busy' scenes. But knowing that the crew bites it, it made my second viewing even more emotional. Really good stuff. Next viewing is tomorrow.

They were on Yavin when Rogue 1 took off...or the back-up takes off (I can't remember which). That doesn't mean that they couldn't have gotten on another ship in the 30 minutes between that and the end of the movie.

End of story. Why is this even being debated???

Spotted the Ghost three times (once on Yavin from a birds of view and twice during the final attack) and at one point on Yavin 4 after Jyn has left the meeting you hear someone say over the speakers 'General Syndulla'

The eyes let CG Tarkin down, otherwise it was a really good effort.

I didn't really care that much about the central characters, there was no warmth, and little charisma. As a consequence I wasn't all that engaged with some of the action scenes at the end. Space battle was a bit generic. The soundtrack definitely lacked the usual SW magic.

I think for many people who only watch the films this may well be their go-to for when they want to watch Star Wars but want something a bit different from the usual Jedi / Skywalker stuff. For me, as a fan of the tv series, when feeling like that I think I would probably still watch a few episodes over Rogue One.

A mixed bag, but overall it was ok. The fnal minute was excellent.

What he was saying and his expressions never really gelled for me, the CGI was commendable, but I don't think the technology is there just yet to revive long dead actors convincingly.

CG Leia was kinda bizarre, her eyes were massive. Does Gareth Edwards know the cocaine didn't hit Carrie Fisher until during Empire Strikes Back?
