If the player supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, it will pass the proper audio to the receiver/pre-pro for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding from bitstreaming (HDMI connection).
* In 2017, to have a 4K BR player than cannot pass the necessary audio signals from Bitstream to the AV receiver for decoding Dolby Atmos and DTS:X would be like a major fatal flaw. |

So, I keep seeing players cannot sell themselves as “supporting” DV until they are certified, and that has not started yet. I guess than can just saw will support DV later, or something.
For displays, like Vizio and LG that have 2016 DV models, did they have to pass certification? I wonder if there will be any benefit to owning a DV player and display by the same company? I’d think not, but all of this has been cart before horse. |

Just preordered from Robert. I have not had an LG player since around 2011, interested in kicking the tires with the mixed results we have gotten out of UHD players so far.

I'm geeked to get this up and running. Just got a 2016 E model (had to have 3D!). So, I'm excited to complete the next step.
It'll probably be awhile on the receiver/Dolby Atmos. My 7.1 setup is already a bit of overkill for our small apartment lol. |

Is there a rough price indication yet? Say, would this player more likely be in the 300-400 range, or higher?

This player interests me. I was going to get the Oppo 203 but it seems to be a train wreck. Is this player missing anything? I am going to connect it to my Marantz 8802a and my LG E6. I do not listen to music only TV and Movies. I figure in 2019 or 2020 when HDMI 2.1 is out and finalized I will buy a 77" OLED and UHD player and move my E6 with this UHD player to my bedroom. Dolby vision is important to me. After speaking with Marantz extensively I found out that the 8802a is going to get a Dolby Vision and HLG firmware update.

Did they give any more specs you could share? Like apps that have HDR capability like Amazon or YouTube? And if the apps could do Dolby Vision too? |
