It's only a 3 disc set so should be priced at 40-50 pounds maximum imho.

The same universe that provides a platform for people to advertise the fact they won't be paying out for it, bizarrely.

Well, three round bits of plastic that contain films that were restored for a lot of money, and licensed for a lot of money, and inspected by the BBFC for a lot of money etc. Anyone can "throw" bits of plastic into a cardboard case, but not just anyone can license films for sale to an entire territory.

I also don't understand why people jump the gun and complain about Criterion pricing on amazon. Its almost like they don't know what MSRP and discounts are, or how amazon works. Whatever price it is at now, I can bet my left testicle that it will be reduced on release day.

Amazons pre order prices seem to be abnormally high of recent times for a lot of titles and then have a sizable drop in the lead up to release. Heres hoping that is the case here.

Zoom tend to list at the actual release date price from the moment its up for pre-order, and they're 80 quid too so I don't think this is a case of Amazon's pre-order quirks despite Aladinsane's patronising comments.

But Zoom also lists it as 6 discs, which does not seem correct in comparison to the US release. I don't claim to be right, so we should just wait and see what the price is on release, but I highly doubt it will still be 80 pounds.

P.S. i was only being patronizing in response to the person who dismissed the work Criterion put into this release by claiming it was pieces of plastic thrown into a cardboard box. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Other companies may have put each film on its own disc and used much chunkier packaging, probably increasing the perceived value but not providing any more actual content. If they'd have released the 6 individually for £9.99 people would probably be calling them a bargain.
As I said earlier, I paid about £50 to import and it was worth that to me. £80 is too rich for my wallet, and going too far in general for the UK market, I reckon.

The plastic and cardboard argument is a bit silly (at least around these forums!) as that's basically all we spend our money on

Criterion's cost £12.50-£17.99 so as 3 disc's I would expect price to be 3x as much
so £37.50- £53.97
the US is £60 on WowHD, though most like me got it for £50 with Amazon price glitch
I think £40-£50 should be price for UK

No shit, mate. I'll just be careful next time I dare criticise Criterion pricing. But then I was told off by some bloke with a Truffaut avatar, so consider my wrists well slapped.

Down to £59.99 at Zoom, so I guess this is a case of Amazon's pre-order quirks after all...

Don't wanna say I told you so...

Jokes. £54 with their 10% code, so not bad all things considered. Still way too high for me though. I think I paid £20 for the Eureka DVD set, so would pay double that as a maximum. I'm sure it'll be on sale somewhere eventually though.

It's not 40$, that was only an initial pricing error that Amazon chose to honor. I was very surprised when I got the shipment notice, I thought they'd cancel the order.
The US RRP is $99.95 and that comes to about 80GBP in line with the UK RRP, so right now Amz UK is offering it at 25% off, and most people are expecting or at least hoping for a further dip before release date. With sales it should come to about 40-50GBP depending on the discount.

Hmm, they often do that though. Could just be a listing error.

60 pounds on Amazon is a bit more like it! It's currently 61 pounds to import a copy of the US set from wow hd. Am still hoping for a further price drop, would be pleased with a 50 pounds price and would happily pre-order.

I'm hoping it'll come down a little bit more, I noticed that Multiple Maniacs has come down further to £19.99 which I presume will come down to £17.99 so by that logic I hope that perhaps we'll see another £6.00 come off the price
