Don't use an HDMI connection.
The Display Port (DP) connection is much better.
I recently purchased a seriously powerful PC gaming machine (my geek co-workers refer to it as "The Beast") with a top-of-the-line Nvidia graphics card, and was using the HDMI cable to connect to my 2K PC monitor.
Then one of my colleagues (who used to work for Geek Squad before getting his current IT consultancy job) told me to use DP instead and he is correct. The DP leaves the HDMI in the dust. Much better graphics and faster.

There is no difference in quality between HDMI and Display Port.

The difference is in bandwidth.
