The Diamond Edition came out in 2011, six years ago. If you think this is too soon. Sleeping Beauty was released on Diamond five years after it's 2009 release.

5-6 years is nothing. Especially since their movies sta out at least a year before being put back in the vault.

The blu art looks too good and too similar to the BB slips to be the standard artwork. Also note the rounded and shaded edges, which usually suggest the lenticular card. If it's the standard cover, it's beautiful, but annoys me that it doesn't match the others. I'm tired of Disney changing designs half way through a collection so they don't match. They did it one too many times with the diamond line. Really annoyed me that the last 3 releases were only available in those "circle" designs that were previously only exclusive to the Digital HD option versions. |

They've already missed a step in this line, not having a lenticular for BATB (and Snow White's vertical title on the wide release, but that's nitpicking haha). |

I like how this one comes with background art unlike Snow White and Pinocchio with just the plain white background.

The cover does honestly look like the Best Buy exclusive one. I hope it isn't though, because it's a really cute and beautiful cover even if it makes the artwork inconsistent AGAIN.
On another note, I do find it a little weird that this is the fall release. I was totally expecting something like Fantasia to be the title for this fall, as Bambi seems more like a title you would release very early in the year. |

[Show spoiler] .I honestly don't know why they are releasing Bambi so early, my best guess is that they want to release it around the spring/summer time since that tie in of "Spring is here; help the Forrest; (etc) has always been a staple in it's marketing (but with that said I don't see why they can't just wait until next year.) Though for the record this might be our "fall" release, and were just getting it super early. If Disney is releasing 3 a year, I suspect Lion King will follow. But no one knows its complete speculation. Last edited by pikachufan1336; 04-06-2017 at 06:28 PM. |

There's a couple of reasons Disney could be releasing Bambi in June instead of next fall. The ricochet effect of excluding Pinocchio from the Diamond Edition lineup would have kicked it to next fall, but it's not the high selling first quarter title Disney counts on every year. Rather than further delay other titles, they may have opted to do a bonus Signature Collection release this year.
However my theory is that Disney is doing like they did in Europe and rushing to discontinue the "Vault," meaning make these movies available again and keep them available. They recently decreased the rate at which they vault these classics, failing to discontinue any Diamond Edition titles in 2015 and only one in 2016 (Sleeping Beauty). In January, they suddenly vaulted 3 titles (Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book) and one more in February (101 Dalmatians). If that's the case, then increasing the number of releases per year makes sense and we could even see them release 1 title per quarter until all are available. The home video game has changed so drastically since the VHS days and I'm sure Disney has crunched numbers on how many times these titles were illegally downloaded compared to the number of consumers who would otherwise make a purchase or rental had they been given the chance. I would not be surprised if the Walt Disney Signature Collection titles remain available long term. Your average family doesn't understand the vault and hates the concept. And with Disney's push to get everyone to adopt Disney Movies Anywhere, which makes it so you never need to purchase these films again to get the new bonus content, I'm pretty sure this is their end game. Plus, with Disney entering its second year breaking box office records, their portfolio is beginning to rely much less on rereleasing these classic films that so many already own. I do believe we're witnessing the end of an era. |

I know they don't do it anymore, but I'd go see certain titles if they reissued them to theaters. Problem is the theaters wouldn't like losing business from wasting screens on something everyone probably has on their tablets or BD shelf.
