Anybody care to speculate on the likelihood of a High Country/Pat Garrett/Cable Hogue boxset appearing down the line?
Would be great for Peck completists. Last edited by SeanJoyce; 03-21-2017 at 03:53 PM. |

Right. It's just a solid example of a Western done right that pushes all the right buttons- mine anyway. It's not revolutionary like The Wild Bunch but if you're a western fan in general I have a hard time imagining you not liking it.
Plus it's beautiful to look at. Everything I see those landscapes on tv or dvd I pine for and HD copy. |

The action sequences are not nearly as good and there is little to no blood or bad language, but thematically Ride the High Country and The Wild Bunch are very similar films. Both are about the last days of the classic west, and about trust between men.

My favourite Peckinpah is Cable Hogue. I will cry with joy the day that that is announced, much like I shed a tear (of sadness) at the end of Cable Hogue, each time I watch it.

Good man. A very left field pick there. It's taken me a long time to get to this point, but I think it's my favorite now as well. I'm sure it's just a matter of time until Cable Hogue hits blu-ray. I have an HD version of it on my DVR to tide me over until then. What a magnificently strange and beautiful film.

I am thrilled Ride the High Country is *finally* coming to Blu-ray! This is epic! WAC's releases are *stellar* and I am really looking forward to seeing this on Blu-ray!
I have to agree the WAC cover for this title could be improved -- a lot. And what better way than adapting the original poster art? I just did a cut & paste and fit of the poster to the cover as an example. With all due respect to the incomparable, talented Mariette Hartley, the stars of this film are Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea and deserve top billing and prominence of this cover. Now if only WAC can somehow manage a Blu-ray release of the devastatingly brilliant 7 Men from Now! Last edited by f451; 03-22-2017 at 10:25 PM. |

^That looks great!
I use imgur to upload pics, they seem to be the most reliable and don't have a spammy website. Here is a link to the image which you can add to your post http://i.imgur.com/TLzS7rpl.jpg |
