I chose to omit a handful of popular ones for various reasons. Example: Chinatown is a great movie that I love, but the water scandals in the movie are very much fictionalized even though they are "loosely" based on real events. In this case, it's a little too loosely for my taste. I'd consider it the same situation as Inherit The Wind; it's based on a real trial, but the movie still presents a fictionalized trial, so it's hard for me to say that it's historical. I think the core of the movie has to be representing actual fact, not just loosely based on real events. I won't dispute anyone else's lists though, that's just the rational for my list. Feel free to point out my inclusion of Judgment at Nuremberg as a sign of my hypocrisy.

1. Zodiac (2007)
2. Judgement At Nuremburg (1963)
3. All The President's Men (1976)
4. The New World (2005)
5. Amadeus (1984)

6. Empire of the Sun (1987)
7. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
8. Zulu (1965)
9. 12 Years A Slave (2013)
10. Lawrence of Arabia (1962)

11. Glory (1989)
12. Quiz Show (1994)
13. Schindler's List (1993)
14. A Man For All Seasons (1966)
15. Munich (2005)

16. The Right Stuff (1983)
17. The Hurt Locker (2009)
18. Che: Part One (2008)
19. Nicholas And Alexandra (1970)
20. Apollo 13 (1995)

21. Miracle (2004)
22. Spotlight (2015)
23. Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
24. Gandhi (1982)
25. Capote (2005)

Sounds good. L.A. Confidential will be allowed.

I'll allow Chinatown since it's based on the California Water Wars and several actual desputes of that time.

So many movies that potentially work, I feel like I'm gonna keep remembering or be reminded of ones and my list will keep changing right up until the deadline. But if the ones I have right now are good enough, I'm gonna try and just leave it as is. I'm pretty happy with what I've got. Hurt Locker's the only one I'm not so sure about.

I can't believe I forgot about one of Scorsese's finest masterpieces The Aviator. Absolutely had to add that to my list a little while ago. I'm golden on my list.

Ah crap, Beautiful Mind. Might need to add that...

I'll allow it as it surrounds a major event and is loosely based on Mark Boal's own experiences that were used as the basis for this film.
