I’m starting to convince myself that this wasn’t actually shot with 3D cameras. I know it was widely reported in the press, but actually when you look at the source it’s simply that it’s being released in IMAX 3D. It could be like the Avengers, shot with IMAX 2D cameras and converted. Can someone convince me otherwise please?! |

I know that they are in specialist rigs, but those cameras do not look like 3D rigs. I’ve yet to see an on-set photo of a stereo camera... |

They are using a wide variety of cameras, both digital and film. It's going to be a mix of native and converted.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4912910/...ef_=tt_ql_dt_6 It seems like most movies now do not put 3D rigs inside helicopters. I remember reading that even The Martian converted it's helicopter footage, and they much preferred it to the 3D helicopter rigs they used in Prometheus. The best thing is that based on last years output we may actually see Paramount release the 3D domestically.

MI Rogue Nation was really cool and my favorite in the series. Then MI2, MI4 were cool, but then MI3, MI1 were okay IMO. Glad the films are getting better with each new one.
Cool to see Cruise will be on a motorcycle again in Mission Impossible Fallout, being a motorcyclist myself. |

https://twitter.com/chrismcquarrie/s...369159686?s=20 I’m sure this is going to be a bog standard conversion....except that Corey Turner will probably lead on this so I’m pretty optimistic for the final result anyway. Still would have been nice it was a properly native 3D production. |

Anyone can edit Wikipedia and IMDB, so they aren't 100% reliable. I haven't seen any primary sources from the director or crew talking about the specific cameras used, but we'll probably find out after it's released. Hopefully it has some native 3D.

I remember hearing that Transformers: Last Knight was also filmed in 3D for certain scenes, and then the rest was probably converted into 3D from the 2D source. That might be the case here as well. The best way to know is to watch the end credits to see if there were any conversion teams under "3D conversion", since many conversion teams don't post their newest project until it's in theaters.

That would be nice, but I'm pretty sure Chris is part of the 3D conversion.
