I enjoy the whole expierence. Going to the theater still feels like a big event to me. It's fun.

Add one of those Coke freestyle machines and some junior mints and I'm set.
I agree; I stopped going to theaters for awhile after I got a big screen tv. But the power leather recliners and reserved seating have brought me back to the theater. It's awkward though sitting by yourself in those paired-seats.

I always at least buy popcorn when I go, it's the only time I eat it so it's a treat, plus I'd like them to stay in business.

For about 5 years, the wife and I had a great setup. Our Cineplex SCENE VISA gave us points for free theatre passes. At one point we had enough points for almost 70 free admissions. It was perfect because we wouldn't pay to go see any films, so the ticket revenue would be taken away from the studios to stiff them for their strongarm business tactics. Then, we would always make certain to spend $15-$20 at concession to help support the theatre business.

Then Cineplex double shafted us on the points system by increasing redemption requirements by 50% and not increasing point acquisition rates in any way. Suddenly, it was waaaaaaay less beneficial to use our VISA in favour of the extra 2% in rewards we'd receive from our MASTERCARD. When I expressed this to the SCENE program, they basically just said "too bad." They were not very pleasant about it.

Now, we rarely go to the theatre, so no business benefits from us as customers.

The thing with me and the Movie Cash deals is either one, the employees sometimes don't know how to use it which turns a typical 1 minute transaction into 5 to 10 min transaction. Second, having my home computer and work computer flagged/banned for redeeming too many of them or when they ask for personal information like home address.

Australia is EXPENSIVE. I love my country but when a 6 pack of Budwieser/Millers/Corona cost you $20 and a pack of Malboro's sets you back $23, as a person who has been to the States 8 times in the last 12 years and know how cheap it is compared to Australia, I get very embarresed seeing the expressions on my American friends faces at our prices when they visit me. Our minimum wage is $18 so it's a bit easier for us than the American tourist who is on minimum wage.
Don't even tell us what you are paying for internet over there either! LOL

3D is the only reason my family goes to theaters anymore. I just don't like watching movies in large groups of people. It's cozy at home.

Certain movie premiers are just better in large groups. There is nothing like a Star Wars or Marvel movie on opening night.

Costco has some decent package deals. For Landmark Cinemas: 2 drinks, 2 popcorns, and 2 adult tickets if I recall came out to around $22.

Our local theater at the mall is shutting down. It's not a very good one plus their prices are a bit high. The Marquees with the better screens and sound is a 30 minute drive and their prices range high as well. The only reasonably priced one is Cinemark and it's an even further drive as well.

I'm to the point of just waiting for these movies to show up on blu-ray before seeing them. It's a lot cheaper and more comfortable at home.

Only seen Logan (had to complete my Hugh Jackman as Wolverine viewing experiences) and The Fate of the Furious (I was on a date but still planned to see it anyway) this year, and that's more than usual. Just not a fan of going to the movies.

That's why I always try to arrive at the ticket counter with at least 15-20 minutes to go before the trailers start. Then again, I've been redeeming MC tickets for so long, I've pretty much singled-handedly trained the ticket takers on how to input them.

Really? I've redeemed something like fifty or sixty tickets from the Disney Movie Rewards program over the last few years (bought them for half-price from a regular member), and have never had a problem like this...I've even printed out up to ten tickets at one time. If the well of movie cash tickets dried up for me entirely, I would honestly have to limit myself to 20 "big" movies per year, or else have to tighten up my entertainment belt elsewhere.

Still $10 in more rural areas though.

Preposterous. Plus a lot more theatres are licensed now, and so while I have no trouble saying "no" to a $8 popcorn, it's much more difficult to say no to a $9 beer.

It winds up being a fairly expensive night on the ond hand, but, on the other hand, two hours in a bar can easily hit a lot more so there's that.
It's all the Real 3D/D-Box bullshit. Just give me the ****ing movie in 2D without the garbage gimmicks thanks.

Wow I'm jealous. And it's nice here now too but nothing like that!!

Plus your flag is in the top two or three coolest in the world for what that's worth.

100% on this. Usually there is still a 2D version but of course it's at more inconvenient times, but it's still usually pretty full. TAKE THE HINT.

Yeah I did come across as a bit whingy in my first post; honestly, it's not that bad.

Higher tickets just make it less likely I will go to the movies that often.

If it's not a big premiere, something I have to see first showing like Star Wars, then I usually go early Saturday morning. Higher prices and going first thing in the morning might be why I've never really had a problem with people talking or using their phones or anything else. The times I go to the movies must be when people who really want to see the movie also go.
