Part 1 and 2 look almost 3D-ish in Dolby Vision. I wouldnt expect any less from part 3.

Is there any word about a 4k set for DM 1-3? I want to get DM3, in 4k, but if there is a set coming then that would be my ideal purchase.

I want to start buying movies in 4K to future proof but I also like to have the dvd's for my nieces/nephews and eventually for my kids

You mean 1080p Blu-ray, right? They don't normally put DVD's in a UHD Blu-ray release. Blade Runner is the exception since Warner Brothers cheapened out on their extras discs.

I meant DVD. I was trying to say I want to future proof my purchases but I might just get the bluray combo back because I still want the DVD.

I'd like to get a good idea of the differences with Dolby Vision. So far it just seems like I have no idea how much difference will be perceived and on what sets.

HDR10 is good, but Dolby Vision is better!
