Do you believe this is the proper place to have these conversations? People come to this thread to discuss the movie, and their excitement over it finally getting a BD release in the US, not to see back and forths like this. Create a thread topic for your concerns, or join a pre-existing one, rather than clogging up this one with this tired debate that has been done hundreds of other times before.

Where else should people exchange opinions other than an open forum?

It says you've been here since 2010, and have over 650 posts under your belt. You're not new to this dude, stop acting like it's your first rodeo. Threads are created for specific topics. The topic of this thread does not read "Universal's Quality Control, and How We can Improve it". It reads "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", and that's what we should be discussing. Full Stop.

If you'd like, I can certainly get the mods involved for their input on this?

The conversation occurred that you found boring. Fine. Move on to the next post if you don't like what I'm saying. Don't act like it's your first rodeo. Feel free to get the mods involved. In fact I'm encouraging you to

What Mifunenfan is saying is, if you have a beef with Universal, and it's clear you do, just create a thread about that and discuss there.
I mean it would beat posting in every Universal thread(not saying you are) about how they handle their releases.
For all we know this could be a decent release?

Yep, it very likely will be. It was released in the UK a couple months ago, sourced from Universal, and the transfer looks very nice.

Actually you stuck your nose in on a discussion that had absolutely nothing to do with PQ of Universal releases and turned it into one because of your pet beef. Continue to contact Universal about your concerns if you wish but it's patently obvious that several members are simply not interested in your efforts at beating a dead horse.

Like it or not (and obviously not) it's an open forum and I'm free to engage in any conversation I choose. Don't like it? Move on to the next post

Well that's good news.

I think we have to admit, Universal DOES have a spotty record... and this is exactly the type of movie they particularly have a spotty record on (like they don't think 80's or 90's comedies are worth remastering or something). I suspect some of these will be using "scraping the bottom of the barrel" type masters - and to be fair, a film like Problem Child or For Richer or Poorer *IS* scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of movie as well.

But these Steve Martin titles I'm interested in. If there is a quality international release, that at least means there is no excuse for them to screw up the U.S. release.

The U.K. Fabulous blu-ray is exceptional. I can't imagine this disc will be any different. You all will definately be pleased.

Of all movies, patching this thread together mostly out of complaints from other threads could be appropriate...

Well I'm pretty sure that comment was directed as a negative towards me, I have to give points where points are due. That was funny

All of the Reiner/Martin movies are incredibly funny. Not sure who has the rights to The Man With Two Brains and All of Me, but hopefully they see a release at some point too.

Warner and Lionsgate, in that order.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is going to be a BD-R rather than a pressed title. Amazon has an odd price point ($21.95 with no markdown...yet) and the cover art doesn't show Blu-ray, just new cover art designed to fit a Blu-ray case.

I want to be wrong but it's something that's kind of puzzling.

I really hope you are wrong on this. I've never known Universal to do that before unless I'm wrong.

I was thinking this also. The price point is not the standard price for Universal catalog titles. It could be their Vault Series crossing over to Blu.

If The Paper is a BD-R I'm not going to be very happy. I thought I remembered The Dream Team being $19.99 and that's a pressed disc

There's no markdown on any of the Warner Archive titles that just went up yet either. means nothing. And art is placeholder. No reason to think it's suddenly a BD-R, that's just more "the sky is falling" speculation with no basis in anything. Why not just wait and see?
