Well, I have the set on pre-order and I hope this leads to a new beginning of classic cartoons on home video.
Everyone, I encourage you to do the same. Because if you want what Tonyboy85 listed, pre-order Porky 101 now and you'll be rewarded later. EDIT: Wait, are any of those things he listed really going to happen or is he just giving an example? Last edited by Nailwraps; 09-13-2017 at 01:49 AM. |

Yeah, I got it on pre-order.
Aside from tonyboy's point, I do hope we see a BD of this down the line. "Not restored to Blu-Ray standards" implies 2K transfers that haven't been cleaned up like WAC Blu-Ray's usually are; hopefully good sales could encourage movement on that front. |

Not bad. I think I'll keep my Amazon pre-order at $36.26 though.

That's the first time we've heard the word "remastered" in reference to the not-on-Golden Collection shorts on this set. That implies at least a little bit of cleanup, if not the sheer scrubbing the previously restored cartoons got.
Again, no reference to the resolution. Again, I hope they did HD scans that could be cleaned up in the future. Notably, this has EVERY B/W short with Porky in it, regardless of content. That needs to be encouraged. Last edited by Leviathan; 09-14-2017 at 03:18 AM. |

Same here, as I ordered through Deep Discount--their sale price was too good to forgo. I'm still holding out hope that all pre-orders wind up receiving pressed discs, but when I contacted WB Shop they said pretty much what Tardo317 said a few posts above:
Thank you for contacting us. According to the information I have all the other stores are selling the Porky Pig but the MOD version. At the moment only our website is selling the Porky Pig 101 pressed version. If you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. And unfortunately it was signed "Sincerely" rather than "just kidding." |

If Amazon is selling and making a profit at ~$36, I assume WBShop must really be making a mint at ~$55. Especially since WBshop has no middleman to deal with. I totally support the work that Warner Archive is doing, I just start scratching my head a bit when I see these kinds of price difference. Makes me think there has got to be a better sales method for Warner.

I thought it might work out that way, especially since Deep Discount shipped my pre-order on Friday the 15th; it would seem odd for WB to burn initial discs for others, then press their own supply, then start burning again once those were exhausted. We will see. Thanks for the info.

I pre-ordered from Best Buy as I couldn't justify $58 at WBShop versus using gift cards and free shipping.
And the result is... PRESSED! DISCS: [Show spoiler] COVER: [Show spoiler]

Oh - I'm guessing it's the color? I thought they could use silver CD-Rs. I did check some of my burned Archive DVDs and they are purple, so maybe... Last edited by BrandonJF; 09-18-2017 at 10:49 PM. |

WAC burned discs are generally purple with a visible data start and stop line. Their pressed discs are silver.
I've never seen them change package/disc art to denote pressed vs. burned. The disc info shows DVD-ROM and not DVD-R as well. |
