Yeah, it's obviously they took the Zavvi look, but it looks brighter, but maybe that's just the picture they posted. It just looks brighter in color.

I'm hoping it will be more subdued in color in person. I noticed even the Blu-ray banner at the top seemed over saturated, so maybe it's the pic, and it will look better in person. I still don't like the way they did the title though.

If I'm not mistaken, the Zavvi one actually felt quality, with embossing/debossing and had a realistic gold shine in the light. This will be a cheap cartoony version of that, most likely with no interior artwork. Easy pass. Wish BB would do away with Popart.

I can definitely see that. But don't forget Zavvi went through backlash on the Whiplash steelbook. They had a contest (?) and people voted on which Whiplash art they would like to see as the cover. The one you see currently was the one the majority voted for, but Zavvi picked another one, which then lead to cancellations. Can't recall a delay, but lets say Zavvi went through rehaul and released the one everyone voted for and everyone lived happily ever after.

But Sony being Sony, might have f'd it up by jacking the contrast and making this steelbook high on Pop Art for us US customers.

Let's truly hope it looks better in person. Because I would like to own this. Movie is awesome and the cover to this was great.

I already own the steelbook which this one looks very similar too so I will pass. One thing I like about this one though is the drum stick on the spine, will this be the first pop art steel without the same regular boring font spine.

I just don't like Popart in general, except a select few like the Drive one. They're mass-produced, matte finish, cheap feeling steelbooks, usually with ugly art that's inferior to the regular cover, and no interior artwork.

I don't mind the artwork on this one, tbh. It looks decent to me, however, I already own the regular with a mint slipcover, and since that slip is rare now, I'll stick to that.

Received both Whiplash and Split today. On a side note, the Best Buy American Assassin steel book, which is set to be release on 12/5 also, hasn't shipped for me yet. Maybe because Whiplash and Split were re-releases and they didn't care about breaking street date? :dunno

EDIT: Silly me, I chose in-store pick up for American Assassin. Damn, might have been able to get it early if I had gone with shipping.

Thankfully I was right, and it is more subdued in color in person, and actually closer to my mock-up. Still don't care for the vertical title, but not bad.

Yep. While not as nice as the release posted above my pics with the debossed titling, it’s not bad. Coupled with the fact that I don’t have this in my library yet and it’s one of my favorite films, it was a no brainer to pick up the steel.

Picked this one up today at lunch. Very nice matte finish steelbook for a great movie. My store had around 8 of them.
