Saw TD today on Hotstar (Originally started watching Iyobinthe Pustakam, but that movie does not have any subtitles, and the Hotstar app does not appear to give you any notification of whether a film has English subs or not till you actually start playing it).
TD manages to transcend genre - sometimes it's funny enough to be called a comedy, other times, it is a serious drama. But what would appear as a lack of consistency of tone in another film is purely a function of the tone being dictated by the script and not a pre-set genre. I did feel there was some meandering (especially once the FF character escapes, though it does lead to a tense tussle set in the canal) and the end is a little diffuse. But on the whole quite worthy of a watch. |
