I believe what he was saying is that they would likely release it for download, but not sell it in stores with a disc, packaging, etc. Every PS3 comes with at least a 20GB hard drive, so why is it important to you to have it on a disc?

Yeah, its basically just and HD remaster of an old game. They could probably fit it on a DVD9. Heck, maybe even a CD Rom. No reason to waste all the space of a Bluray. And no physical production means hopefully a cheaper cost for us.

Pretty sure this will be available through PSN as download only. Probably go for 9.99 or something like that. Just guessing, but makes sense to me

Q&A with Studio Liverpool, new screenshots and renders

Remember this game runs at 1080p 60fps with anti-aliasing.

Wow. I just pooped a little.

I've always loved this series. Can't wait to unleash it on my PS3

I didn't notice withing the first post anything about split screen action. Why is this always left out? I would buy Motorstorm or this game in an instant if they just had split screen play.

Looks gorgeous! Though I question the validity of those screenshots as far as the anti aliasing goes. Shin Ra has post screens of titles such as Uncharted, GT Prologue, Heavenly Sword, etc and in the screens shots the games look as if they have completely smooth edges. However when I play the actual games there's noticable aliasing in all of them. I'm willing to be that Wipeout HD will be the same way. (BTW, I have a 1080p HDTV).

It looks liek aid expect a 1080p wipeout game to look. Take a look a Tekken DR which was also a psp game at first. Great looking game.

Note that there are two games in development:
1) Wipeout HD, to be released as a download
2) a new Wipeout game, tentatively referred to as Wipeout PS3, likely to be offered in a box.

See Wikipedia.

Compare the situation to that of Gran Turismo HD Concept and Gran Turismo 5.

I strongly get the impression that Sony releases *all* PS3 games on BD, regardless of size. My guess is they do it to make home piracy more difficult ("keeping honest people honest") while it helps drive down replication costs of Blu-ray Discs by impoving economies of scale.

I will even use my wipeout and wipeout 2097 soundtracks if it supports custom. Can't wait.

yeah, I stopped being hard core gamer after the SNES. I dabbled with the Sega CD...but after Mario 3 it was just never the same!
