Zavvi FINALLY shipped my pre-order this morning.

Looking forward to watching it next week.

Has anyone else's copy turned up factory sealed but with the artwork 'ready flipped and showing the, IMO superior, poster artwork rather than the Arrow commissioned cover? Presume it's a production glitch as I can't see it being a last minute change of mind by Arrow as there is no BBFC certificate on the front panel.

My copy came with a messed up booklet. After page 9 it skips to pages 23 - 28 followed by pages 23 - 28 again and then page 31.

The movie itself is far from being as good as the trailer suggested. Would rate it 6/10.

Video and audio are very good though.

Just received my copy from Zavvi!

Booklet looked normal with no weird sequencing.

Do any of the Blu-Rays for this movie have decent picture quality?

This site reviews the Well Go RA release here and DVDBeaver reviews the Arrow RB release here.

No, not AFAIK. I own these two (Arrow UK and South Korea):
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-V...lu-ray/186911/
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-V...lu-ray/197812/

and both have some (awful) banding, which isn't identical, so it's not the source. I read about the US one having banding as well and doubt that the other candidates are better and therefore gave up after the second try...

So far I am watching the Aussie release and I can't see any banding issues with it so far.

Thx. I do remember me ruling out the Aussie one though, since it looked like an US clone to me, so I remain somewhat skeptical.

I for one put the German one on my "next try" list in the meantime: There's an edition that includes another movie, so I won't have to lose that much by giving it a try.

I watched the Arrow edition last month, and I noticed no banding issues. I'm not saying it's not there, it's just that I wasn't speciffically looking for it, although I probably would've noticed it had it been especially distracting.

The film is just all right, however, but since I only paid a fiver for it, I'm not complaining.

Well... obviously not. I found it distracting on several occasions, which is why I bought the Korean release, which has banding in the most offensive places I checked as well. Since the banding is not identical, it's not the source and there's hope, but the chances are rather slim IMO.

Well, we're not all sensitive to the same issues, so I must be blessed with low sensitivity to banding

You're blessed indeed.

I just sampled some scenes, I did remember (i.e. there's more), from both my Arrow and Korean release and added the timestamps as well. So maybe one could check those re. another supposedly banding free release.

Arrow | Korea (timestamps are from the Arrow - they differ slightly)

1. 00:09:06

2. 00:09:32

3. 00:10:23/24 couldn't be arsed with the same frames here (next two), but terribad on both

3.1

4. 00:10:26 (had to pick different frames here)

5. 00:37:20

Both discs really are as bad as it gets re. posterization. Since I liked the movie, it bugs me quite some.

Like I said I couldn't notice any banding issues as the encoding on the Australian release is surprisingly solid. Just for reference I watched Deepwater Horizon the day before and noticed banding in the water scenes so I am also a little sensitive to it.

Thanks again and I might give it a try after the German one. Thing is I only trust certain members in regard to banding, after they proved to be reliable in that regard (especially since I bought it twice already). I'm not the only one who sees it of course, but you're not on my list yet. With the no banding on the Arrow comment, maybe you can also see where I'm coming from.

Also fixed the images...

I buy a lot of Korean releases, and recently some of the banding on them is terrible.
