I am almost convinced Disney and Fox let word of this out to see reaction.

On the one hand, Star Wars distribution consolidation and Marvel films consolidation.

On the other hand, far less other types of films per year, death to a ton of smaller shows/movies at Fox, and the loss of a unique X-Men film series that was really starting to branch out.

I'm not sure it's worth it - especially if Lucasfilm still doesn't release the OOT.

Just to be clear, "stalled" doesn't mean they won't reach an agreement. Only that they're hung up on some part of the agreement and need to come to a compromise. There's something that one company wants that the other won't budge on. It's possible that both parties will come to an agreement and the talks will continue.

Headline says "talks now dead" and that "The two sides aren’t talking anymore." Seems like it's more than stalled.

Theoretically... If Disney bought the film and TV studio, they could leave the 20th Century Fox label alive, and it could become the new Touchstone for Disney, since they’ve essentially ditched the distribution banner. It could be the label for R rated projects.

I doubt it is over with. Both sides are probably taking a break. These kind of deals take a long time to make. There are a lot of moving parts
involved.

This kind of reminds me about the Duchene trade in the NHL (albeit this Fox/Disney deal is a much larger scale). News came out a couple days ago regarding a potential trade with Duchene involving the Preds and Sens but talks were apparently dead then all of a sudden last night the trade happened.

Would really like Disney to pony up and buy the rights to the distribution of Empire and Return.

They're testing the waters here. I think Marvel made a deal with Fox and got Fantastic Four already set up for Phase Four.

I just hope Fox retains the X-Men and any related properties. I like my mutants where they are.

I hope it's just a transfer of F4, and nothing more.

And all FF related properties, of course -- Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Galactus?

It's not even "have stalled", it's they already stalled a while ago, and even then they weren't that serious.

This is just info that leaked of some preliminary talks that happened a while ago. Talks are "not currently active" has been the quote, though yes it's always possible it could be revisited at some point.

I am pretty sure talks like this happen all the time with businesses, where they will listen to all offers, but doesnt mean they are serious about it.

I think the fanboy world has gone crazy with speculation about something that I bet will likely never happen.

How does that affect us as consumers? What am I missing? It's not like the movies aren't available to us already? Or is this just a case of Star Wars fans wanting everything in one place because it helps them sleep better at night?
