Yes. The U.K. blu-ray that came out a few years before the Kino blu-ray seems to be out of print too but copies of it can still be found very cheap (but it is coded for region B).

Apparently there a new pre-order up on Amazon for a new release by Sandpiper Pictures, whoever that is. Any idea what this new release is all about? Any info on it at all? What has Sandpiper put out? Are they decent?

Just a barebones rerelease using the same transfer on the KL disc.

For any questions about Sandpiper, I would take a look in this thread and it should answer most of your questions:

Also, beware, Sandpiper often re-encodes the video files to be smaller.

The Russia House is one of my favorite movies, and I owned the original Twilight Time disc, but I bought the Sandpiper disc on the off chance it might be an improvement.

It was not.

Twilight Time used a BD-50. Sandpiper squished the video file down significantly to fit it on a BD-25, and also dropped the isolated score and featurette.

Kino's OOP release was only a 25GB disc (22GB file size) and only included a commentary and a trailer.

Given that, is it likely the new Sandpiper release should be comparable to the Kino, since there's no reason to re-compress the video?

How does the UK Fabulous Films release compare to the US? The UK disc doesn't seem to have the commentary. I can't find out any info about the Sandpiper release, even though it's now available.

As is typical for UK releases the FF has better encoding, the same look otherwise.
