Reported this as a duplicate thread. Hopefully the mods will merge with the existing thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=299448

Anyways, I'm skeptical about the German pre-order. Why does the standard Blu-ray release already have cover art but the 3D one doesn't? Fingers crossed, but I don't know why Fox would choose to release the 3D disc in Germany alone.

They haven't canceled my preorder yet. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if/when they do.

I agree that this one is dead in the water. Listings have been removed.

All Spanish pre-orders have disappeared too. My pre-orders from Amazon ES and FNAC have not been cancelled yet but I’m not keeping my hopes up!

Grimm 3D also failed to ship on release date from Amazon DE and the new release date is 12/31/2019’which is always bad. Anyone heard about this one?

Do you mean Expedition Grimm 3D with a 12/31/2018 release date, where Blu-ray.com originally has an 6/28/13 release date?

Yes... the exact one. Amazon DE originally showed a release date of last month. Once that day passed they changed is to the end of the year. What is the deal with that?

Hmm...

It seems the way forward for this is going to be decrypted DCinema packages I'm afraid.

Not at all happy with this turn of events, the studios are screaming "Pirate me!" with every movie they don't release on 3D Blu-ray.

I'm not buying this 2K DI crap on Upscale-ray and I'm certainly not watching it in 2D.

... has that ever happened?

Aside from that possibility, do any of these 3D no-shows ever turn up on any legitimate digital distribution services?

People will invent reasons, but I really don't see why it has to be so impossible for these films to get 3D releases of some sort.

I don't think D-Cinema is going to be cracked any time soon. The files are ginormous (usually around 200GB); highly encrypted; transferred via proprietary hard drive or secure satellite connection; and can only be played for a specific period of time as determined by a unique decryption code specific to each projector. So it's certainly not as simple as a rogue projectionist at your local AMC copying the file to a USB flash drive.

Not saying I would ever endorse piracy, but if it were the only way to acquire certain movies in 3D, it would certainly be tempting...

I doubt it as well but many thought 4K Blu-ray AACS 2.0 would never be cracked and here we are.

not only that, even if you crack them the files are not playable in our devices. its not like their extension are the conventional MKV or TS. And the encryption/decryption is not that simple either each time it connects to a series of websites to validate them to be abe to play.

If the studios refuse to release movies like this in 3D I will not spend my hard earned dollars on them in 2D or 4K.

I'll borrow this from my local library and spend the money on something else.

I don't know if it is a reason to hope (we know how these things can disappear), but bol.com has listed a 3D version for an April 18 release:

It won't allow to add the 3D version to your cart.
