I just got this. Been watching disc 1, vastly better quality than TV/streaming; details are strong, picture is crisp and clean for the most part, but there are quite a bit of anomalies throughout (banding and macroblocking in dark scenes being the worst offenders), not too much to be a deal breaker but enough to be noticeable. Any softness or lack of details in certain moments I think are source related. Sound is strong. All in all, I'm thinking 4.0 for video and 4.5 for sound.

I say, if this is a sign to how future TV seasons will be handled by Echo Bridge, then this is a great start.

So this is interesting, I did some homework on this after I saw the company "SP Distribution" all over this release. Apparently SP Releasing is producer Steven Paul's company. Paul bought Echo Bridge early last year (http://variety.com/2017/film/news/st...ge-1201958518/) and is now putting SP Releasing titles on disc via Echo Bridge. Though I still wonder how SP Releasing even got Taboo, but it seems that Echo Bridge has gone under new management.

I got this in the mail from deepdiscount.com and it's in one of the thicker clear blu-ray cases with no slipcover. The picture on here and the copies I saw at Walmart are regular sized blue blu-ray cases. I'm wondering if anyone else got this from deepdiscount and, if so, what the case looked like. The insert for the one I got looks the same as the one from Walmart and doesn't fill the clear case. I'm hoping this wasn't repackaged in a new case and then sent to me.

Interesting... When I finally went to Walmart to get this, they just had two regular copies with slipcovers. I happened to be back there three days later killing time waiting for a movie to start nearby, and I noticed that they still had two for sale, because the copy I bought had been replaced on the shelf with another in one of those clear generic blu-ray cases with no slipcover as you describe. It seemed kind of shady.

EDIT: On an unrelated note, the subtitles on this are way wrong in various places.

I went to Wal-Mart in Spring Hill FL on Tuesday 3/20. They had 1 copy in a PLAYSTATION 3 thickness case. Clear, blue shiny blu-ray stamp at top. No slipcover and it was in the soft plastic wrap, not the y fold crunchy type. I kind of had it in my head maybe a repack or fake had been returned. But WM and DD are carrying these so must be a running change.

I was at Wal-Mart today and also saw the clear case (didn't buy as I already have the season). The case is thicker than the original release, so they may have repacked it in a proper 4 disc case instead of the stacking case of the original print. As to why they did this, maybe the fact this is Echo Bridge's first ever TV release could mean they're trying to figure things out.

I got mine from Amazon back in February and it came in a clear case, no slip, with stacked discs inside.

Still stacked discs but a thicker case? Weird.

Picked mine up from Wal-Mart today at 29.98 price point. They had 3 copies, unfortunately none had slip cover.

All the copies at my Walmart had no slip covers and were in thick cases, with stacked discs. All of the copies in the store were missing Disc 1 from the Blu-Ray side, so I had to return my copy for a refund. Sounds like EB needs some QC.

$12 and change now.

I strongly recommend this show if you like historical drama. Tom Hardy does manage to do a lot with so little, so you have to give him some credit. Plus, we see the likes of Jonathan Pryce, Oona Chaplin and Stephen "Boardwalk Empire's Al Capone" Graham in this.

Season 2 is undoubtedly what I am hoping for. Even if we don't get it, this season does end on a rather positive note.

Which set would people recommend to get this show: US or UK? I'm leaning towards the UK as it's spread across 3 discs instead of 2, and is 1080/50i, which i'm assuming is how the show was shot and intended to be seen. Does anyone own the UK set to compare to the US one? Is it actually supposed to be 1080/50i, and does it look interlaced or is it actually just a container for progressive video in this case? Does it look or sound significantly better?

So...I guess it's not actually the "99 Cents Only Store" then.

I’ve been looking for it to buy. Just finished this show and loved it, but I can’t find a slipcover on eBay.

I’ll probably get both US and UK, as no one seems to have a definitive answer as to which is the better version.

Unfortunately I may end up doing that too at some point, just to be safe.
