lol Well... something like that, I guess.... I'm sure that was a good comparison for you though!

But seriously, all I'm saying is there's a big difference between expressing your own opinion of a movie (or any piece of art...) and making instant judgements about someone else because they don't share your opinion of that movie (art).

That depends on the opinion being expressed though, doesn't it?

If say a movie is a piece of trash with no redeeming qualities whatsoever how am I not judging the tastes of the people who like that movie?

The closest I could come to squaring that circle would be to acknowledge that my own tastes could be questionable. Something like...

I dunno, to me McDonald's tastes like warmed over dog food but millions of people love it so what do I know.

But if I'm going to go that route why even indulge in the hyperbole in the first place. Why not just say 'eh, it's not for me' and leave it at that.

Well, opinions are still just opinions, however hyperbolic.

If a movie is a piece of trash with no redeeming qualities to you then that is your opinion, and that's fine.

And I can feel the same movie is fantastic and speaks to me artistically on multiple levels with numerous admirable qualities to me, and that's fine too.

Unless you specifically ridicule me or I specifically ridicule you for the opinion we hold, I don't think it is implied. I think it's obvious we saw it differently. And that's fine.

None.

Every franchise has their fans. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it should end. Grow up.

There are certain franchises where they take advantage of their fans. The diehards are hooked, and they just want to see a good movie. And time after time they are fed garbage.

I don't think anything should end as long as people enjoy them but if I had to choose some I would say
God's Not Dead
Hellraiser
Texas Chainsaw

True, but every actor has fans. Some people don't want to see their favorites waste their time on franchises they don't like.

So what. Does it really bother you if some one likes a film that you don't. Film is subjective after all.

this post in a thread like this is the only one that really matters.

I have to 100% agree......just b/c SOME people find movies should end, doesn't mean everyone agrees w/you.

but, I guess we did need a new thread on the board where people can complain about Star Wars and superhero movies.

This thread has reminded me of the classic Lionel Hutz line...

“Mr Simpson, this is the most blatant case of fradulent advertising since my suit against the film The Neverending Story.”

Though there was some talk of a remake/reboot a few years ago.

I don't want anything to end. I'd just like the Transformers films to be 90 minutes, because I think they'd be twice as entertaining if they were half as long.

A good point. Although, two hours is probably fine. Its the 2 hours and like 40 minutes or longer that gets tedious. Actually, other than the first film the entire series is tedious and sucks. Too bad. Liked the first one enough to feel "hooked" into the series but its a total fail since then.

just b/c you DON'T like it doesn't mean it shouldn't continue.

so what should take priority??

the people who get enjoyment out of a franchise or the people who can't stand it??

to me, if someone enjoys it, they are gaining something out of those movies being made. a distraction from real world problems.

well, the people that don't like those franchises do get something out of it too i guess......something to whine & complain about.

this is such a stupid argument to have. "I don't like these movies so they shouldn't continue." don't watch them then.

I'm a big fan of The Dark Knight trilogy... but I would have been mad if they made more movies within that universe. I find these never ending sagas to be an insult to the viewers.

17 days in to the new year and so far this is the most arrogant post of the year. If people like a film series then why not let the studio carry on making them for the fans. I hated the Twilight series but people liked them. I just DON'T watch them it's not hurting me knowing that somewhere some one is having a good time watching them unlike you.

Get over yourself if you don't like the film series don't watch them it's as easy as that.
