I have Blade Runner 2048 on my wishlist at amazon.com. Plot wise it looked iffy so I'm waiting for a drastic discount. It's selling for $29.95 now.
Transformers. Never a fan. Might buy if $10.00. As I mentioned the Power Rangers 4k Bluray is a demo worthy disc. It's just the subject matter. If you can turn off your brain for the entirety of the film and just watch and listen for the audio... The Dark Knight Trilogy would have been a WICKED Atmos demo had Nolan not been so anal about letting his films get the Atmos treatment (or DTS X). Then I'd buy them again. As it is..for the slight improvement in video at various spots in the films..not worth it for me. Though had I not bought a copy of all 3 on bluray then YES. All 3 would have made the Top 10 List. Everyones!! |

1. John Wick 2 - just amazing. You can hear the difference between a shot to the knee and a shot to the head. Bullets fly by your ears, you hear ricochets, etc. like being in the middle of the action. (Listened to with my new Atmos setup)
2. Billy Lynn - fairly subtle most of the time but with great clear dialog. Then when things start happening it takes you to another planet. The scene when the squad enters the arena and the crowd walking by starts cheering, you can hear them all around you and the different echos and distances, just brilliant. The scene at the stadium where Destiny’s Child start performing, the crowd is going wild and the drummers/marching band etc, just mind blowing. If you close your eyes you are there. I’ve never experienced that in audio before and was blown away. I’m sure my neighbors thought I had a live band in my living room. And the next scene where the shootout happens is really unique, you can hear the bullets and rockets flying from back to front and right to left and ricochets all around you. (Listened to with Atmos) 3. Baby Driver - this is way up there even though I watched it before I got my Atmos setup. The base in the opening scene whenever the car’s breaks were slammed was something else. The general surround effects and distant and surrounding voices were seriously some of the best I’ve experienced. Will need to go back and rewatch wth Atmos (Listened with 5.1) Worth noting I thought IT was quite disappointing in Atmos. Not bad but just nothing special. |
