I'd love to see this on blu with a long documentary from all involved, it would fascinating to understand why this got made 10 years after the almost-reverential take that ended with Kong's death fall.
Various put the budget between 10 and 18 million dollars and it only took 4 at the box-office.
Also, who decided to go with the ludicrous tone the film had- and the inclusion of Lady Kong/lovey-dovey romantic scenes!
This is begging for a good blu with the "warts n' all" story thrown in for good measure!

This is a nice looking edition. I don't love this version of Kong even though I saw this 5 times in theaters but the score is Great!!! All KONG films good or bad should always have a great score! Max and John are truff acts to follow.

A couple years ago some friends and I pooled a couple hundred bucks to get a 35mm print of this on eBay, figuring at some point if it still didn't have a Blu-ray release we'd get it scanned someplace. Looks like we snost and lost on that one lol

This release looks really nice! I'm considering whether to spring for this or wait for a US announcement.

Umbrella releases usually say they are Region-B but just about always turn out to be Region-Free, don’t they?

I just sent a message to unbrella to make sure what the region code is and if they take the payment before or after when its released..I know that may be a dumb question to ask but just want to make sure..I purchased a copy of king kong lives on dvd (e-bay)

Honestly, I enjoyed this a hell of a lot more than the 76 remake. Least this was enjoyably bad.

Glad to see this movie is getting a Blu-ray release. Watched this a lot as a kid, actually more than the 1976 film. Loved it a lot and it will be interesting to revisit.

I just found out about this earlier today..I have the dvd copy which is usally isent to cheap.Im excited to see this get a blu ray release.

VUDU added KING KONG LIVES this past summer with the studio being listed as Shout Factory I would imagine Shout will release this next year sometime.

Since Scream Factory never includes a Digital Copy with their releases I went ahead and bought this on Vudu, it's on sale so the total with tax was only $8.59!

I bought it on Vudu too, just to see what all the hate was about. And I gotta say, I’m really enjoying it so far. Not saying it belonged on anyone’s top ten of the year list, but I having a good time with it and don’t understand the negative vibes some people throw at this movie

In 1976, there was King Kong, starring Charles Grodin. It was labeled on the poster as "the most exciting original picture event of all time." Even though it was a remake of the 1933 King Kong. It cost $24 million to make back then, and earned $96 million in theaters. Great for 1976.

I have to watch these films again as it's been many years since I saw them on broadcast TV as a kid.

Description

Picking up where the last film left off, Kong is being kept alive in a comatose state at the Atlantic Institute. Monitored by Dr. Amy Franklin (Linda Hamilton), it becomes clear that Kong will need an artificial heart if he is to survive, the problem being that he also desperately needs a blood transfusion. With none of the other known species of apes having the same blood type, adventurer Hank ‘Mitch’ Mitchell (Brian Kerwin) is recruited to traverse the darkest corners of the globe in search of match. He finds what he is looking for in the jungles of Borneo and returns stateside with an unexpected boon, Lady Kong. The resurrection of Kong is a success but when the mighty ape senses that a potential mate is near, he escapes, taking his new paramour with him. When the fanatical Colonel Nevitt (John Ashton) is brought in to retrieve the fugitive lovers but only manages to capture Lady Kong, all hell breaks loose. Can the world survive an enraged King Kong willing to destroy anything and everything that stands between him and his mate?
