I have a Blu-Ray player and an HDTV and I honestly do NOT see MUCH, IF ANY, difference in the picture quality of these movies . . .
I have full respect for the HD idea and DO enjoy it . . . yes the picture is fantastic on a Full HDTV . . . however, as previously stated, there is little difference between Blu-Ray and DVD . . . and certainly NOT worth spending DOUBLE the amount of money for the same movie . . . My advice to you sir, is to keep your current collection as it is and only get Blu-Ray movies / series that you do not yet have . . . That is what I am currently doing at the moment ![]() Last edited by Andrwme; 03-02-2012 at 12:50 AM. Reason: spelling erros |

With some shows being remastered for Blu-ray (starting with Star Trek TNG, from what I've read), do you guys think it's safe to say that we'll see quite a few shows remastered by say, 2020? There's still a lot of people buying DVDs, but I heard Blu-ray will outpace DVD sales in a year or two.
I know it's a painstaking process to do everything over again when it comes to remastering, but I don't see that stopping these studios. Not sure what the hurdle is though. Whether it's the low res special effects, or the process of redoing everything in HD from scratch, frame by frame. I've seen some shows released on Blu-ray, however, they have upscaled special effects, and regular 1080p for everything else. Maybe one of the reasons we haven't seen shows like X-Files or 24 on Blu-ray. Shows like X-Files and 24 were some of the hottest TV series of their time (in the 90s and 2000s), so I'm sure they will sell if the studios are concerned with profits. The major jump in image quality would certainly be worth it. |

In all honesty, if you truly cannot see a difference, then by all means stick with DVD.
And maybe buy your BD's somewhere else, cause if your paying twice the amount for a BD compared to a DVD then you really do need to shop elsewhere |
