Btw wasn't Eastwood the original attached director for A Star Is Born? With Cooper presumably, off the back of their collaboration on American Sniper?
Yes. Eastwood kept trying to do it years and years with Beyonce but due to her ever busy schedule, he backed off and did Jersey Boys instead. Presumably, Cooper must have talked with Eastwood about it and let the former take the reins.

He’s been “rushing out” stuff for years now. Just remember, American Sniper was “rushed out” six months after the lackluster Jersey Boys. Also, Million Dollar Baby was “rushed out” about a year after Mystic River. Letters from Iwo Jima was “rushed out” shortly after Flags of Our Fathers. The man is quite capable.

Gran Torino was shot in two weeks and Tim Robbins once said that he complete an entire day's worth of work before lunch while working on Mystic River.

Exactly. The man is perfectly capable of both cranking them out and making high quality cinema. It’s a just a matter of his past few not being great.

Eastwood is renowned in the industry for his speed and penchant for doing relatively few takes. Kubrick and Fincher he ain't. It's just the way he works. I wouldn't say it's "rushed" because it implies carelessness.

When a commenter on Awards Daily wrote last month that the only thing that could make him interested in this year's awards season was The Mule, I laughed it off - but that was silly of me, given Eastwood's track record. Million Dollar Baby was a very late addition to the release schedule in 2004, and we all know what happened.

(as for his recet movies, the one I enjoyed the most is Jersey Boys, but I think his last truly great one is Letters from Iwo Jima.)

Sully and American Sniper are both good movies, 15:17 struggled because there wasn't really enough material to work with to make a movie out of. I mean a good half hour of that movie is basically just them having a European vacation and it's already an 80 minute long movie.

this feels rather different due to the novelty of clint acting again. plus it's a crime picture, i think we're in for a helluva ride.

Is that Bradley Cooper at the end? Didn't know he's in this.

Looks fine to me, I'm not really convinced, they put some tense music over some pretty flat plain imagery so I didn't buy into it. That said I got chills at "this is the last one" line.

Looks good but getting a brain fart, whats the exact same music used in another trailer. Life I think? Or Operation Finale?

Oh, definitely familiar to Operation Finale, with the tense music building up over clips, then it abruptly stops.

The site editor from Awards Daily is thoroughly unconvinced that this is not an awards contender - and, after that trailer, so am I.
