Well why not? We have free speech (well, you Americans do anyways) and if an actor only like Asians then why should I care? I probably would vote with my wallet and not see his/her films if he/she was really obnoxious about it, but I certainly am not going to tell them what to believe.

Moreover the studio would likely balk at this, not sign the contract, and it wouldn't be an issue anyways. If they did sign it, then, if anything, the government might get involved for discrimination (could happen with any inclusion rider contract tbh afaik).

I'm all for diverse crews and whatnot, but forcing it is stupid. There are going to be times that the more qualified candidate is going to get passed over for someone who is only being hired to fill a quota.

This is America. People are free to be stupid.

And nothing is more stupid that saying to a potential employer: "I'll work for you but you MUST hire people of a certain race if I work for you"

In a free market, that employer will just hire the next guy who is equally qualified but says "Please hire me. NO strings attached."

All this potential talk of white males being looked over due to these potential inclusion riders has me like....."GOOD". It wont happen...but still. I'm all for meeting quotas on minority inclusions. If you've got the white man quota for a given project, stop hiring them.

All for white men getting a sense of what it feels like to have inherent disadvantages based solely on how they were born. (btw, I'm a white cis male)

Then that makes you an outright vengeful hypocrite. Nobody has the right to be discriminated against, no matter how positive the discrimination is perceived to be.

OO this is a dangerous topic. I can practically smell the triggered white dudes coming from my computer. Smells like Mountain Dew and Cheese Sandwiches.

In all seriousness though, I see nothing wrong with something like this as long as it serves the film. Obviously we do not need to see more Latin actors in Schindler's list or something like that, but I see now problem with forcing an accurate representation of the appropriate story setting.

I think if you are filming in New York or something like that then I would rather see an accurate picture with a 25 percent black cast than an unrealistic all white cast.

I see nothing wrong with it as long as the request is sensible and natural.

No worries. I just see those two terms get thrown a lot these days with obvious reference to their current, more political, meanings, but not in an accurate way and it's a pet peeve. It's much more prevalent and noticeable with "snowflake" as "tirggered" probably has more flexibility.

I'm basically just saying, I'm all for equal disbursement of work among all types of people. I realize certain industry demographics don't allow for truly "balanced" workplaces, but in this industry I'd say it's pretty balanced to some degree.

Who said righteous? All I'm trying to say is I really don't give a damn if, as a white male, I have to forgo some of my genetic "get out of jail free card" to have a more balanced and FAIR workplace.

I'm not talking about skills or qualification, of course that should and will be the main factor in hiring someone.

Forced diversity is bad unless we're talking a diverse skill set or if who you end up with just happens to be the best people for the job (unlikely).
