There are plenty of IMAX 3D showings in the U.K.

3 in your local area

Database entry for US version (with temporary artwork; likely will not have slipcover):

Good chance since no US Warner non-exclusive has had a slipcover in 18 months since they moved their disc distribution to Warner Archives with Skull Island

That website can't be right then, there are way more than 3 cinema's in the UK showing IMAX 3D versions.

Pretty much every big release has been getting an IMAX 3D showing lately, so I definitely wouldn't worry about 3D going away, especially at the cinema. People have been saying "3D is dying" for years now yet it's still here.

With some major studios it certainly is.

Would someone post the link that lists all the IMAX 3D screenings?

Locally, the Denver area appears devoid of IMAX 3D —
https://www.imax.com/movies/fantasti...wtimes-wrapper

I know IMAX said quits but, geez, what are they thinking? IMAX is the only decent way to see 3D theatrically. The so-called Real D is a fiasco — put those glasses on and image brightness is reduced two f-stops and the projection equipment does *not* boost light output to compensate. Black Panther in Reel D was really, really dark — that includes the daylight scenes.

Frustrated in Denver.

I thought the film was fine, if a little too convoluted. As with the first one, the beasts just aren't that fantastic to me. They're more like sideshow extras in their own series. And as the overall tone veers dark, sometimes very dark, those cute critters are frankly overshadowed by the witches and wizards and the usual "choose a side" plot. Jude Law and Johnny Depp have easily the most compelling characters here. I'm looking forward to a showdown between these two at some point. The rest of the cast passes muster, but to be honest the returning characters were all more fun the last time around.

However, the 3D really is fantastic. The opening titles grow right out of the screen and the effect takes your breath away! After that, despite much of the film not being particularly brightly lit, there's plenty of sumptuous depth, fun pop-outs, and you can tell the stereographers were given licence to make the 3D striking, not merely perfunctory. I saw the film in a bog-standard screening with the usual dim projection, but it still impressed. It will look stunning on 3D blu-ray (note my optimism for a release), and I liked the film itself just enough to make it, and not simply the 3D, worthy of a re-watch.

You are Rickyrockard are right - I double checked and the 3 cinemas listed with IMAX 3D were for London, not the whole of the UK: Cineworld in Leicester Square, Enfield and Showcase in Bluewater. Still, only 3 cinemas in London! That's crazy. My local IMAX in Greenwich has always played 3D copies of blockbusters - even The Predator recently. I don't get it. I saw the movie in 2D anyway and sadly it was underwhelming. IMAX 3D would have made it more enjoyable despite the weak story, I'm sure. Still, I pre-ordered the 3D Blu-ray to support the format.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. It was a little hard to follow but I wasn't hearing the dialog very well so I missed a lot of detail. The 3d was very good with several very good pop-outs and only had a handful of scenes that weren't gorgeous. The beasts were adorable as usual. I can't wait to get this on blu-ray and crank the volume. They spent half the film mumbling and whispering.

Perhaps the fantastic beats are protagonists themselves and the creatures are adjunct.

Just saw the movie in RealD 3D on the largest screen at the local AMC cinema and the first 5 to 10 minutes were the best 3D I have seen in a long time. The rest of the movie also didn't disappoint.

I can't confirm any frame breaking, as has been reported outside the US on IMAX3D, since the screen was the exact same size as the projected image so there weren't any black bars below and above the picture. Can't wait to get my hands on this disc to see it on my home theater setup.

Just saw this in IMAX 3D, and it was fantastic. So many cool frame-breaking moments! The opening sequence was awesome.

Movie was okay, but they should've either made a trilogy about Newt or a trilogy on Grindelwand, instead of mixing them both for five movies.

Shame if your local one hasn't got it then. Might be worth a trip to one of the other London cinema's on the Tube to see the 3D version though, if you really enjoyed the film and want to see it again anyway.

I would but I have a Limitless subscription with Odeon... And I didn't really enjoy the movie enough to pay full price with another chain for a 2nd viewing. I will have to wait for the 3D Blu-ray, still the cheaper option!

Forgot to mention that they played a new trailer for Alita: Battle Angel before this movie that was less action driven than the first trailer. It didn't enhance my interest in the film but then, it didn't need to. I still can't wait.

I have a bad feeling that these frame breaking IMAX scenes might be only available on upcoming 4K (2D) “IMAX Enhanced” editions....as idiotic as this decision would seem, it would hardly be shocking.

I have the same feeling especially because I don't have a 3D IMAX viewing in my area. I don't see the point in frame breaking without 3D so of course that's what they'll do.

As with the first Fantastic Beasts, the sequel was clearly directed with 3D in mind from the start. And since it is also a good conversion, it makes for some spectacular visuals. Which is good, because the plot is overstuffed and muddled, and the ending should have said "To Be Continued" so it was kind of unsatisfying overall. But the visuals! I could tell from the trailer that this was something to see in 3D and I was right. Shots are framed with multiple layers (the apartment full of hanging sheets was a standout) and between the creatures flying at the camera and wizards aiming their wands into the audience, plenty of enjoyable pop outs.

Unfortunately, this was just a regular 3D screening. I know there were IMAX showings, but I'm not sure those were in 3D. I haven't seen anything listed in IMAX 3D on my AMC app yet... Because that would've definitely been the way to see it!

Locally only one 3D screening at 9:30 pm. RealD 3D not making any inroads in obtaining screens for exhibition. I hope AQUAMAN fares better.

Fair enough, I have the Cineworld Unlimited sub, shame there isn't one that does both of them, without paying full price for both lol
