If this isn't the new 4K scan, then why would anyone want to buy it?

If it's getting a UHD release then it MUST be a new scan. There's just no way that it isn't.

I'm debating whether or not to get this. I don't have a 4K set or player, I wonder if the new BD will have a solid enough master to justify buying it?

It'd be weird if they didn't release the 4k remaster of this kind of blockbuster on bluray. Would imagine they'd make a lot less money if they only did a UHD release.

The only reason I can think of for them not to release the remaster on blu ray is to try and get people to invest in UHD, which ain't happening for me anytime soon (if at all) so I'm glad that I'm pleased with the current transfer if they don't release the remaster on blu even though it's still a major bummer if they don't. Also makes this release completely pointless if they don't release the remaster on blu.

Ha! That is a good point. Although for that title I don't think the remaster worked out so well, kinda like T2.

I think people suggested that the 3D Jurassic Park disc was likely scrubbed of grain only at the stage of the 3D conversion, out of necessity. Universal's 4K masters of Jaws, ET and Schindler's List look stunning, so I'll bet there's a gorgeous master of JP that we just haven't been allowed to buy yet. Yet being the key word.

Hope they fix the color, that’s most annoying.

I'm just gonna come out and say it: I don't like John McClane.

Never have, never will.

The old blu-ray/transfer is pants quality and has been screaming for this remaster for years. All the more power to you if you're pleased with it though.

Because who wants to be Bruce Willis when you can have a voice as seductively menacing as Alan Rickman? He WAS the voice of God for a reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just released the old 2k scan in a way to make it look like a remaster after the crap they pulled with the five disc collection.

What's Best Buy's deal? They put this up for pre-order but list it as coming soon and won't let you buy it? Why?

This is Fox though they've been pretty good about using actual 4k masters when they have them for UHD. We already know one exists for this movie. Let's just hope they do the same for the blu-ray

Same here. My Panny Plasma is still going strong and will hopefully continue to do so for years to come. I've built up a huge collection of blu-rays and have no intention of ever buying any of the same movies in 4K.

I guess eventually I'll probably have to get a 4K TV as that's all that will be available in stores but the only 4K content I'd probably be viewing would be free to air television in 4K (if there is such a thing 5+ years down the track), streaming which I don't do much of at this point in time and 4K gaming and I'm really not even much of a gamer.

I'll probably buy some newer movies in 4K I guess but I'm not upgrading a single blu-ray that I own. I already re-bought at-least a 100 DVDs on blu-ray, many of those DVDs I paid $20-$30 for back in the early 2000s. The upgrade from blu-ray to 4K is nowhere near as drastic as the leap from DVD to blu-ray. Almost all the movies I own on blu-ray look about as good as they're ever going to.
