Its because the player is just not that complicated its running the base environment and their GUI extension changes for the SoC. The LG TV's processor and memory are significantly more capable of being a tablet like interface. BTW this UBK90 still can't disable HDMI-CEC (SIMPLINK) similar to the UP970.

Yeah, I definitely don't expect a full-fledged replica of webOS on these Blu-ray players. But a little more polish would be nice. I think Samsung has the best Blu-ray menu system at the moment, but their newer players don't support 3D or Dolby Vision, which is a non-starter for me.

Can you elaborate on the inability to disable HDMI-CEC? I use CEC on most of my devices and it typically isn't a problem. However, I don't want the UBK90 to turn on every time I power on my TV (C6 OLED). As long as that won't happen, then I don't mind.

Haha that’s one of my major gripes with my current 970 - have to go through the menus just to turn on subtitles! Annoys the heck out of me!

*the ugly UBK90 no have USB port cover?! shame on it..!!

the most important differ are:

UBX90 succeed to make disc load buzzing loud noise,..DISAPPEAR?!!

poor UP970 have BIG porblem with,... but don't worry :
(THIS WILL HELP)

or simply use 3M thin rubber double tape,..better solution ,..though so?!

hey dude,..

LG BLURAY already include 3 MOST IMPORTANT COMPOSITION in it: multi HDR(I believe include HDR10,10+), dolby vision HDR, and of course technicolor...just combine with LG OLED release 2017+ seri8 for sure technicolor,..

it so useless talk about complete HDR series on bluray player ,but the TV not use LG oled seri 7 or seri 8,..like other talk about dolby vision bluray player on sony TV,...lol!!

HDR10+ is a myth.

My player is expected to be delivered Friday. I can't wait to watch Saving Private Ryan.

Anyone know if the LG UBK 90 can be modded to make it region free? I need 3D/4K/region free and was considering the LG UP970 Until I saw this was coming out

I received this player yesterday. Ill comment on what I think after I put a few movies through it. Before this player I was using an Xbox One X.

Hooked up the player and put on Saving Private Ryan and immediately got these green and pink artifacts flashing and flickering every couple of seconds. On the menu, the copyright screens, when the actual movie played, etc.

I’m going to try resetting the player later and try a new cable, but it’s not looking good..

Oh man that stinks. I haven't had any issues like that yet. I've only tested Spider-Man Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I will be trying Arrival next. Keep us updated.

I posted in the UP970 thread, but I got a bad player. I tried different cables, inputs, and Dolby Vision discs, and all had the same issues. Blu-rays played fine, but anything DV had the pink and green artifacts flashing every couple seconds. I returned the player yesterday.

Ended up picking up the UP970 for half the cost of this one. Not really sure of all the differences, but so far the UP970 is playing just fine.

Do we know if there is any physical difference between this and the 970? Other than the USB cover?

What happens whe you burn a 100gb rewritable disc with DV, does it work? Does the UBK90 recognize the disc or not? Apparently the 970 doesnt recognize anything above 66gb.....
