Because the DVD looks terrible, even though the Xbox One X is meant to upscale.

Your Xbox, or any other player, can't add detail that isn't there. You're stuck with crap. Best-looking The Rookie you can get is by buying a digital HD version.

Well, bugger.

But thank you for the replies

I just put in ER, it looks better than The Rookie.

Anyone still watching this? They're tackling social injustice and police brutality this season, but it seems so out of place on a show that loves to tie everything up in a neat bow by the end of the episode. Comes across like an after school special. Last night's episode had a speechifying moment about the only three times a cop should ever fire their gun... on a show where cops fire their guns almost every episode... and then there was a big shootout later on.

They've inserted a lot of that into a lot of shows.

Maybe I'll just go back to watching reruns of The Mentalist, The Closer, and Castle!

Yup still watching but yes the change is little annoying. I believe after the George Floyd incident the producers said they were going to address this stuff on this season.

Just wait for Brooklyn 99 to come back. Sounds like they are making a bunch of changes.

Prodigal Son is tackling the topic of racist police too, but even though it's a far more absurd show, it feels like they're doing it a lot better than The Rookie. Maybe it's because they don't come across like they're doing "a very special episode of."

The Doug Stanton stuff works a lot better now that they're focused on it and involving more characters. The last episode didn't have the silly soap box speeches in b-plots that felt out of place tonally.

Anyone watching the spin-off, The Rookie: Feds?

It's based around Niecy Nash-Betts' character Simone Clark, who was introduced in a couple of episodes last season. Kevin Zegers, Frankie Faison & Britt Robertson also star. To be honest, I'm only really watching it for the latter.

The first couple of episodes have been good fun & feel much more lighthearted than current run of The Rookie, though thus far I can't really decide if the leading lady is irritating or endearing. She treads a very fine line...

Also, the amount of cleavage she displays is frankly ridiculous. Surely there must be some kind of dress code in the FBI?

Oh, & apparently being a high school guidance counselor is pretty much all the training you'll ever need to be an FBI agent. Who knew?

I only watched the first episode so far and I thought it was alright. Yea the amount of cleavage was ridiculous but at the end of the episode they changed her outfit and it was much better.

I'm going to watch it as long as it's on and Britt Robertson is there. Not sure if it's going to be any good.

Niecy's beeewbs really are ridiculously large

Season six of The Regular Rookie is looking good.

Those eps were the pilot(s) for Feds.

I generally like Niecy, but her voice was a bit too grating in the first ep of Feds. That's my only note. She's been great in other things I've seen.

They have their own academy. She applied, got in and graduated. Not really that big of a stretch. No more than Nolan joining the LAPD at 40.

There's even more in the second episode. The opening scene wouldn't be out of place in Benny Hill sketch.

They do seem to be aware of how OTT it is though. At one point she even asks her dad if one of her outfits is a bit much...

They really need to tone down the cleavage. No way an FBI agent shows that much. Otherwise Feds is fun.

Totally agree. I mean her cleavage is insane. But I am enjoying the show so far and season 6 of the rookie as well.
