Don't remember much about this one. From what I recall it was a step down from the American Pie films up to that point but still decent. Might grab it if it's cheap, especially considering how bad pq was for the old blu.

I remember seeing this movie and I HATED it. But I kept saying "It's weird, though... I like that Ryan Reynolds dude who played Van Wilder, he was pretty funny. I'll keep an eye on him. Strange that I hate the movie so much, yet like that main actor dide."

From the cover picture on Walmart it seems like the name is (still) National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Can the administrators please change the name of the thread accordingly?

I remember sneaking into the theater to watch this movie when I was 12 lol.

I'm a huge 2 guys and a Girl fan so I watched everything that had Ryan Reynolds.

Like most BD comedies, this one was hit hard with the DNR stick. We'll see how this turns out.

Reynolds didn't really become a star (of sorts) until around 2009 or so. That was when he did The Proposal with Sandra Bullock, which lead into Buried and then, Green Lantern. The latter film failed, and honestly, although Reynolds has had starring vehicles since 2011, he arguably would not really be a star right now if it weren't for Deadpool. For example, Safe House made money largely because of Denzel Washington, R.I.P.D. and The Voices were both bombs, even if the latter developed into a minor cult film, and really, the rest of his filmography, while sometimes successful, is more of a character actor or comedian's filmography. I'm sure he had a lot of female fans prior to Deadpool, but it's hard to argue that the 2016 film isn't the one that made him a big star.

If you want more proof, Lionsgate made a subtle change from the original 2007 Blu-ray art to the new 2018 re-release and UHD BD:

I think it's alright they decided to go with this title. It's a fun film after all.

Here's hoping some of the better catalog titles (Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction, Amélie) make it to UHD.

Barnes & Noble who first listed this release has it named Van Wilder: Party Liason. Hence the thread name.

As I understand it, that name is used for the international releases.

I had a glimpse of hope in humanity after Ryan Reynolds was becoming box office poison for awhile acouple of years back. Then Deadpool annoyingly put him back on the map. Although i dont think he was the selling point of that movie, i think anyone else could have done a better job but that entire character is trash
