That new art is actually really great. Doesn’t sound like they’ll be doing a new scan though... so, huge bummer there. The Jeff Bridges interview is a pretty big deal though.

Trick r Treat had its features listed for months up until yesterday when they announced a New Scan. Ill be shocked if this doesn't get one, they Treat all of Carpenters films with high regard

Have you seen it though? It's quite a tired old transfer even within Sony's usual remit of 4K'ing the shit out of everything, it looks like a regulation HD telecine off an IP to me. Would love to see it freshened up some but it doesn't look like it'll happen unless Sony decide to do an actual 4K UHD release.

Still, I'm kicking myself for selling the DVD with the commentary and that awesome music video when I heard that the UK was finally going to get a Blu-ray release and that the BBFC had reclassified the extras...only for Sony to release the exact same barebones Blu that was released in mainland Europe like 8 years ago. D'oh! So if this Shout version has all that stuff plus the new interview then I might as well pick it up.

So far every Shout release of Carpenter movies (and Wes Craven ones too) have had the UK commentaries, no reason to think this one won't.

What is wrong with the current scan? Existing BLU is ****ing beautiful. Since this isn't a favorite, I'm not sure if I'll bother to upgrade it since I have the blu and UK dvd already. Not sure a new interview is enough, although I said the same for Village of the Damned but ended up finding one for cheap and grabbing it.

I haven't seen the BD of it as I still have the DVD. Two reasons why I didn't get it is I wasn't into the format then and that I was waiting for some bonus features. Which waiting for that has of course now finally paid off. About the other regions discs. I am guessing they were just being cheap by using the dated 2009 transfer. Which was well before Sony started doing 4K's with Ghostbusters 2013 MI4K release.
