Scream Factory is releasing blu-rays of 2 and 3 with new 4K transfers in October. So I wouldn't be surprised if Universal released them in 4K at some point.

The new one looks by far the most promising of anything Halloween related in the past 40 years.

I thought there was a good chance we might get this to go along with it and I'm glad it has come to fruition.

Interested to see how this one looks. I love the idea of JC in 4K (already preordered Christine); barring any horrible reviews, I'll probably get any JC they release in this format.

On second thought I'll almost certainly pick this up day one simply to support JC4K. The Thing has been Top 3 on my 4K wishlist since I first hopped on board the format, and Assault on Precinct 13 isn't far behind. The Thing feels inevitable, but anything I can do to help the cause.

My all-time favorite horror film coming to 4K! Let the hype train begin! I saw it coming though since we’re getting a new movie which I’m excited for. Can’t wait!

Just in time for the new 2018 film by Universal/Blumhouse. As long as it's done right compared to the previous Blu-ray releases, it'll be day 1 purchase for me.

I knew it! It’s the 40th anniversary plus the new movie is coming out later this year. It’s too good of an opportunity to let it pass. Very happy these catalogue titles are getting the UHD treatment. I just hope the transfer is good.

Yeah not a big Halloween guy, I've only seen the original (really like) and Zombie remake (meh). But the trailer for the new one looks surprisingly good. I'll probably end up seeing it in theaters.

So much of what I love about this movie is tied to my memories of seeing it as a kid on a shit-ass TV where I could hardly see a thing, so it will be interesting to see how this will compare. Might really hate it.

Of course, it will probably be awesome. Also, any excuse to revisit JC's score.
My VHS copy was ****ed and for most of my youth I could barely make out a ****in' thing in this film. I have only since seen it on DVD which wasn't much of an improvement so the UHD is (hopefully) going to be revelatory for me. I can't wait. TWO! Carpenter films making it to UHD. What a time to be alive

I had heard through the grapevine a couple months ago that this was coming.

I don't know what new extras are coming, but I do know this is not a simply a bare-bones release.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Looking forward to this. Yes, very curious what color timing Cundey comes up with yet again.

The 2013 transfer was apparently in 2K, so this is either an upscale or yet another new scan. Still glad to see this movie coming out in 4K, even if I haven’t upgraded. One of my ultimate favorites.

I don't own this on any format I, would life to own this in 4K, so am hoping its a true proper 4K scan and release. If it is I could see myself getting this and other films in the series if they are released in 4K.

Remember folks to wait for a proper review of this new release before buying as it may not be worth the upgrade in the end. The same goes for all 4K releases.

Well, the new movie basically does what you've been doing.

Are the releasing these 4K transfers on 1080P Blu-Rays?, or actual 4K Blu-Rays?

For some reason, I don't own any of the Halloween films on Blu-ray except for Rob Zombie's remake and its sequel.

Will happily pick this up. I hope the first sequel will also get the UHD treatment.

That’s a hard choice to make for me because the others won’t come out without strong sales of the first and it’s already known that 2 and 3 have 4K scans ready. And if enough people buy they may come out when the new one is released on 4K.
