Wow. This film is incredible. I loved it. One of the best of the year. Kidman is nothing short of phenomenal in a performance that will keep you riveted throughout the film's entire run time. Since I seem to be the first one to post who has seen it, I will keep my references to the plot simple, only to say that not only is Kidman's performance more than enough reason to see this film, but also that the story itself is a knockout and the reveals, when they come, are of a whiplash nature and work perfectly to create a full bodied film from beginning to end. For those that see the film, you will know exactly what I mean when I say the following.
[Show spoiler] What is so interesting to me is that I saw this film via an Academy screener that I received only hours after I went to see Aquaman and it was a real head turner to see Kidman in this film so soon after her turn in Aquaman. She was equally impressive in both films but boy, you couldn't have had two more polar opposite roles for her to play and to see them in such close proximity time wise was an interesting experience. If Kidman does not get a nomination, and she deserves a win, there is no justice in awards land. The same goes for this film. Late add: I see the poll went up. My rating for Destroyer is 4.5/5 which I will bump up to a 5/5 for the poll. Last edited by dommie; 01-01-2019 at 03:44 AM. |

Yeah, I have to wait until it opens closer to home. It's at the Hollywood Arclight and they've been having Q&A afterwards with the director and screenwriters. It's also been playing at the Dome. I'm not in the mood to try to drive to Hollywood this close to the New Year. We get a ton of tourists right now, so I am staying planted.

Saw the trailer yesterday for the first time before If Beale Street Could Talk, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Kidman appears to be in rare form here, and I for one cannot wait to see her dive into that character.
Think I might be anticipating the expansion for this release more than Glass next week. |

Just saw the trailer on tv.
Nicole Kidman looks like she’s desperate for an Oscar nomination. The makeup and fake nose are ridiculous. ...8 out of 10 on the unintentional comedy scale. |

This expanded a little more this weekend. Just go ahead and stream the damn thing on Itunes or PPV already if you're not going to play it in hardly any theaters.
I've been dying to see this. |

it would be nice if they had a list of where it was going to expand to instead of just waiting and searching every week.

I remember when The Invitation was released that way - but that was the business model. It was a low budget indie film. Destroyer has a bit more clout and they're doing a gradual release. It would only suck if you live in a small town without access. |
